The tiaras worn by the women of Spain's royal family

Queen Letizia is one of the world's most glamorous royals, and her tiara collection is unlike any other.

Many of the Spanish tiaras once belonged to one of Queen Victoria's granddaughters before passing into the collection of Queen Sofia and now her daughter-in-law.

Infanta Pilar's Sapphire tiara was worn upside down by Laura Ponte when she married Beltran Gomez Acebo, the nephew of King Juan Carlos in 2004.

The diamond and blue sapphire tiara was first owned by the Countess of Barcelona who gifted it to her daughter, Infanta Pilar - the older sister of King Juan Carlos.

Queen Ena's Fleur-de-Lys tiara is the grandest in the Spanish royal family's collection.

Known as Ena, Princess Victoria Eugénie of Battenburg was the youngest granddaughter of Queen Victoria and the first royal baby to be born at Balmoral Castle.

The Spanish Floral tiara was commissioned by King Alfonso XII from British jeweller J.P. Collins, now G.Collins & Sons, in 1879 as a wedding gift for his second wife, Maria Christina of Austria.

The tiara was sold during the revolution by later acquired by Madrid jewellery house Aldao, before being bought by General Franco.

It became part of Queen Sofia's personal collection when she married Juan Carlos of Spain in 1962.

The diamonds are set in silver and gold, as was the trend for jewellery made in the 1800s and 1900s.

When she died in 2000, the tiara passed to Alfonso's son, King Juan Carlos, and then to Queen Sofia.

One of the more unique tiaras worn by the Spanish royals is the Mellerio Shell tiara.

It was made by French jeweller Mellerio, in 1867, when it came into possession of the Spanish royal family.

It was worn by Princess Letizia here for a dinner in honour of the president of the Philippines, Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, in 2007.

The Mellerio Shell tiara features diamonds in the form of shells, while the bottom is shaped like a wave.

Pearls and diamonds hang loosely from the tiara.

It was worn by Queen Sofia, here, for the wedding of Sweden's Crown Princess Victoria, in 2010.

Queen Ena's Pearl and Diamond tiara is another spectacular piece.

It was given to Queen Ena when she married King Alfonso XIII by her future mother-in-law, Queen Maria Christina.

It features eight large pearls surrounded by white diamonds.

Queen Letizia wore the tiara for a gala dinner in honour of Portugal's president, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, in 2018.

The tiara was made by Spanish royal jeweller Ansorena but was remodelled by Cartier at Queen Ena's request.

Back then, its pearls could be swapped with emeralds but it hasn't been seen in that configuration for years.

In 2010, Queen Sofia's daughter Infanta Cristina wore the tiara for the wedding of Sweden's Crown Princess Victoria to Daniel Westling.

The Niarchos Ruby bandeau is one of the smaller tiaras worn by the Spanish royals but it is also one of the most versatile.

A suite of rubies, made by Van Cleef & Arpels, were given to Queen Sofia as a wedding gift by billionaire Greek shipping tycoon Stavros Niarchos.

Queen Sofia wore the rubies as a bandeau-style tiara on a velvet headband for a dinner with France's First Lady Carla Bruni in 2009.

The bandeau can also be worn with two rows. The piece also has a matching necklace, earrings and bracelet.

Another tiara made by royal jeweller Ansorena, Queen Ena's Aquamarine tiara started its life with no aquamarines at all.

The tiara used to contain white pearls suspended from its frame but Queen Ena had the piece changed to include blue aquamarines instead.

The piece also has a matching brooch, earrings and necklace.

It is worn here by one of her descendants, Princess Sibilla of Luxembourg in 2012.
