Here's everything we know about Magic Camp 2 on Disney+. Directed by Mark Waters, Disney+'s comedy movie Magic Camp sets up a sequel and allows for the two primary protagonists to ultimately return, if the film happens.

In Magic Camp, Andy Tuckerman (Adam DeVine) reluctantly accepts a five-week mentoring position at The Institute of Magic in Las Vegas. He's friendly with his mentor Roy Preston (Jeffrey Tambor) but doesn't quite buy into the man's cryptic commentaries about life and the art of performance. Still, Andy agrees to help out for a bit, only to learn that most of his students know little about the basics of magic. He also discovers that his ex-girlfriend (Gillian Jacobs as Kristina Darkwood) will also be a camp counselor, one who's well known for performing on the Las Vegas strip. Magic Camp follows Andy's attempts to transform his students into "decent" magicians.

DeVine and Jacobs are the main attractions in Magic Camp, though the breakout star is undoubtedly Nathaniel McIntyre as Theo Moses. The Disney movie begins with the 12-year-old being cautious while performing magic around others, yet he slowly gains more confidence after receiving advice from Andy. By the final act, Theo transforms into a truly polished magician, one who understands how to connect with his audience. Given there's a built-in story for a sequel, will it happen?

Will Magic Camp 2 Happen on Disney+?

Prior to Magic Camp's August 2020 release on Disney+, the film had been in the works for several years. In fact, filming began way back in January 2017, and the movie had originally been scheduled to premiere in the spring of 2018. Christopher Robin later took that slot, and became a moderate box office success. By early 2018, Magic Camp was re-scheduled for Disney+, and finally released approximately two-and-a-half years later. Given that the family film is relatively new, it's probable Disney will take the rest of the year to assess streaming numbers before making a decision about a sequel.

In a best case scenario for the Magic Camp cast and crew, a sequel would be greenlit by the end of 2020. Past scheduling delays suggest that Disney doesn't have high hopes for Waters' film, but much has changed in the world since the original production. Now, in a COVID-19 world, locked down streamers may indeed binge Magic Camp and make it a proper streaming hit. In that case, a sequel would be prioritized for either 2022 or 2023, with the latter seeming more likely due to the current state of the world, along with the fact that a sequel may not be greenlit until 2021.

Magic Camp 2 Story Details

Adam DeVine as Andy Tuckerman in Magic Camp on Disney+

Magic Camp ends with Andy choosing to accept a position at The Institution of Magic over a career on the Las Vegas strip. The decision at once pleases his students and mentor while showing his ex-girlfriend that he's confident about the present as well as the future. In Magic Camp 2, Andy could continue to build upon his career and potentially re-ignite his relationship with Kristina. The main conflict in Magic Camp 2 could focus on the teenage characters. Andy and Kristina will naturally become closer yet experience at least a little bit of conflict, which will theoretically educate their students in one way or another. The kids will develop their techniques and prepare for the future, all the while learning some valuable life lessons through Andy and Kristina.
