The common sizes of Eagles include 1/10 oz, 1/4 oz, 1/2 oz, and 1 oz. The U.S. government guarantees the weight and gold content of each coin. The design is steeped in American heritage, designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens; the obverse features a depiction of Lady Liberty carrying a torch and an olive branch. Investors and collectors highly regard these coins for their gold purity, beautiful designs, and government backing.

About the American Gold Eagle

American Gold Eagle prices are sold at a premium that’s a bit higher than most other bullion gold from sovereign mints. Traditionally, the gap has not been great between Gold Eagles and prices on other coins like Gold Maples, but with the events of 2020 both material and labor shortages affected the US Mint severely. Couple that with record strong demand for gold and the Gold Eagle coin has seen higher premiums than the historic norm. Gold eagles are often preferred as they have favorable reporting requirements with the IRS when it’s time to sell. This may account for some of the additional premium over other bullion. Buying specific year Gold Eagles will result in a additional premium for a higher final price. Gold Eagles are one of the most collected gold coin series in the world.
