Out of all the short stories we have read, The Most Dangerous Game is my favorite. It is a great story. It is very interesting and it keeps you on your toes. I would recommend this story over any of the other short stories because it is the best. This story shows the competition between to very skilled hunters; one a bit more “dedicated” than the other. The first reason why I think that this story is the best, is because it is very captivating. In the beginning when he fell off of the yacht I was surprised. Then, when no one heard him I just wanted to know what was going to happen to him. Would he make it to where he heard the gun shots? If so, would he get help? Would the shooter shoot him? It had been a week since Rainsford managed to kill the nefarious General Zaroff. The challenging part was almost over or so it seemed. There was not a clear way for Rainsford to escape. As days passed, Rainsford tried to escape. He tried making a boat from driftwood that he found, he tried swimming, he even tried sending a signal by using a flashlight. Rainsford had become so desperate that he even tried some ridiculous plans like trying to pole vault across the ocean. As a result, Rainsford ended up having huge gashes in his left leg ,which got infected, and he had to amputate it. As days turned into weeks, and weeks into months, Rainsford had lost hope and became bitter.
Richard Connell's "The Most Dangerous Game" is a very exciting story of a manhunt. This story made me think about the morality of hunting: Humans are the cleverest creatures on earth, but does it give them a license to kill the other animals and even human beings weaker than themselves? I give below a short summary of the story to set the scene and then I will explore the ethics involved in hunting as a sport. "The Most Dangerous Game" presents the story of a hunter, General Zaroff, who finds hunting human beings as the most dangerous and fascinating sport.
Imagine turning up on an island with a psychotic man, a man who hunts humans. This is what General Zaroff does, on Ship-Trap-Island. Aron Ralston, from "Trapped", a story explaining that Aron himself was hiking alone when the unthinkable happened: Two large, heavy boulders fell on his arm and he had to endure over a hundred painful hours of being trapped in between the two rocks until he did a self-amputation on the arm

Marie Curie once stated, “Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood. Now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less.” Fear, to be afraid of something or someone. Some approach fear differently than others; some fight fear and some run from it. In Roald Dahl’s “Lamb to the Slaughter,” and Richard Connell’s “The Most Dangerous Game,” both authors create a mood to resemble how the characters are afraid to face the fear--further demonstrating the danger fear plays in the lives of the innocent.
The world is made up of two classes-the hunters, and the huntees.” This short story written by Richard Connell, “The Most Dangerous Game,” contains many literary devices that make a story come alive. Everyone does certain things when they can’t have what they desire and often they are mean. Whether they mean it or not it still happens. In “The Most Dangerous Game” Zaroff can’t be the best hunter in the world with Rainsford still alive, so since he could not get what he desired Zaroff hunts and attempts to kill Rainsford.
