When I was in Scranton I went to Boscov's for shopping. From the second floor of this mall I found a very nice bridge and a long ramp which end up in steam town. Very interesting way to go to this place.
There are two main parts for visiting in Steam town national historic site.Round house and Trolley museum. Round house is more attractive and free of charge. Trolley museum ticket for adult is 7 $ for adults. Lots of great photos , a 18 min movie and lots of thins to learn.
You can find some facilities in this site like restroom, small gift shop, free parking.
It takes less than two hours to see everything.there is an excursion trip option but its time didn't match with my schedule. If you use this train could be extended your essential time to more than three hours.

Much bigger than I anticipated. Great history of mining and the immigrants. Full-size train car, breakers, equipment, etc on display. Also a large room devoted to women and children in the silk and lace making industry with full-size looms and such. The museum is right above the coal mine train tour. While we didn't have time to do the train tour, I think it would be a great combination to hit both. We spent a couple hours at the museum.

What a fun park. Walked a few trails. It was easy to find and plenty of available parking when we arrived. There are maps posted at various locations to see what is offered. The trails were easy but not for someone who is not sure footed. The only down side was that there was alot of garbage along the trails (bottles, wrappers, etc.).

This local museum is right next to the Steamtown National Historic Site, and it’s well worth a walk across the parking lot while you’re there. Scranton was one of the first cities to have an electric trolley system, and this museum shows that history well. Also, if you’re a fan of John Oliver, it also houses the elaborate model railroad that he gifted to one of the tv stations in Scranton after several weeks of entertaining back-and-forth on his show.

It might have been a little long for children to listen to but Dorothy Dietrich had an amazing tale to tell and she told it in the most interesting way--many times encouraging the children present to follow their dreams and find a way to make it work. She starts by telling about why the Houdini Museum is in Scranton, her history, and then moves into the room that's full of Houdini posters, letters, and pictures-telling the life history, and professional history of Houdini. The last room was "filled" with props and she does her best with the room full of people to point out some of the most interesting. Then--we return to the studio to see what you find out you really came for---her magic. So professional, unique and amazing. She is a true treasure and it was so sad to know her co-magician Dick Brooks could no longer do the show with her. The building's not much from the outside but like magic--don't let it fool you!!

An odd but enjoyable mix of artwork and taxidermed birds. Artwork greatly varied, not by prominent artist but fun, interesting and on many subjects. Very, Very good collection of what appears to be real stuffed birds, hundreds of them with descriptive names. Also they let us in for free with my veteran ID!

Nice walk around this man made lake belonging to American Water which they are pointing out a little too often at very close intervalls on signs posted on trees. The loop is 3.7 miles (6 km) long. There is a observation deck at the northern tip of the lake. You will find a free parking area if you continue along the Scranton-Pocono Highway to the east.

It was all very good but with all the recent upgrades u think they would have some way to more easily go from the lodge area to the tent area it is difficult walking up and down while carrying your equipment or walking up and down with ski boots is also a difficult feat

This is a free site to look at and you can spend a couple of minutes here when in Scranton area. You can walk at ground level and see the old iron furnaces and also look down with a couple of viewing spots on top. You cannot go into them (they are roped off).

Recently attended a touring broadway musical at SCC and it was a wonderful venue. Location was excellent. Several parking garages were within walking distance, as well as numerous restaurants. The interior was beautiful and there did not appear to be a bad seat in the house (we were pleased with our off center, balcony seats). In addition to the view, the sound quality was excellent.

What a beautiful trail for bike riding. First and foremost, April from the visitors center was instrumental in helping me plan my rides. First, by sending me the tour book when I had trouble printing it at home before my trip and second, when I was in PA and needed more guidance I called her and she was so pleasant, patient and helpful to me. Truly a dedicated ambassador for this trail.
We did 2 rides in 2 days and both were magnificent. The trails are very well maintained and peppered with artwork along the way. Numerous benches and places to stop for a picnic and to take in the fall foliage. Beautiful scenery along theses trails. Highly recommend for biking and/or walking.
