Woodland Dreams

The forest is tattered in the wind
shaken in the songs of rain
left to dry emerald feathers
and shed dryad's dressing gown
russet and golden leaves
in spells upon the ground

Over my head the swallows rest
in amber twiggy branches
call to each other like ladies
sipping tea in sylvan shadows
as woodland animals arrive
to mix tracks along the trails

In the pink and golden morning
as sunbeams dance through the trees
the silence is an orchestra
that sounds like a peaceful stream
listen and see the orbs and spheres
