Weak support: The first Ngrams evidence is a bit circumstantial on its own, but considered alongside the consistency consideration, and the much stronger adjectival Ngrams usage trend, there's a pretty reasonable case for making the shift. "West Asian" is also used more than the alternative on the page itself, not least with respect to the numerous sports associations West Asian Games, West Asia Basketball Association, West Asian Football Federation, and the West Asian Tennis Federation. It is found in the first sentence “The following countries and areas comprise the West Asia subregion: Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan…”. I can include it, maybe under the Definitions section of the article, but would like a second opinion from another editor.
