      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Wendy dares to do something different with its classic source material; unfortunately, the movie's breathtaking visuals are at odds with a flawed take on the story.

It's the worst movie that I've ever watched. Everytime I watch a movie, I compare it to this one and no other movie has ever been worse. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/25/23 Full Review Hari Safitri S Nice, and I like it🤩 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/06/23 Full Review Hyacinthe m I am Krzysztof mother so I think he is fabulous in this movie, as well as the other kidS and I can't wait to see them in something else on the big screen! I thought the movie i interesting and good, well, great...but my son is A genius so what else can I say? Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/12/22 Full Review Audience Member I was pleasantly surprised by this one. It was a very deep and moving story. I got teary-eyed in places as the narrative unfolded. This film actually does some unique and fun things with the source material. It definitely succeeds where films like Come Away have fell flat. Although, There are places where it starts feeling a bit long in the tooth and a bit too "art house." Just as those moments playout, the in depth lore bits bring you back in. I'd say it's a prequel of sorts to the main Peter Pan story. Its fresh story kept me out of trying to guess what classic story moment they were trying to tell next. Clarisse Loughrey Independent (UK) [Wendy] sees the director double down on his style while finding little reason to justify it. Rated: 2/5 Aug 14, 2021 Full Review Dan Jolin Empire Magazine A new take on Peter Pan that actually works, delivering all the visual richness you'd hope for from the film-maker behind Beasts Of The Southern Wild. Rated: 4/5 Aug 13, 2021 Full Review Tara Brady Irish Times While by no means perfect, Wendy ... has originality, folklore, and old-school Americana to recommend it. Rated: 4/5 Aug 13, 2021 Full Review Keith Garlington Keith & the Movies Sometimes Zeitlin is too literal, sometimes he’s too vague. The occasional salty dialogue from the kids feels forced, and not all of the non-professional performances click. But those things never rob the movie of its imagination, emotion, and grit. Rated: 4/5 Aug 21, 2022 Full Review Jeremy Aspinall Radio Times The metaphors are sprinkled liberally like fairy dust, as childish imagination and joy clashes with the reality and bitterness wrought by old age. Rated: 3/5 Sep 14, 2021 Full Review Rich Cline Shadows on the Wall An astonishing riff on Peter Pan, this film is both earthy and dreamy at the same time.
