Grown-up Harry Potter fans scorned by Miriam Margolyes‘ remarks have been validated by another of the film series’ stars.

For those who didn’t catch the actress’ interview with New Zealand’s 1News earlier this month, she expressed concern for older fans of the fantasy franchise, who she claimed “should be over that by now.”

“You know, I mean, it was 25 years ago, and it’s for children. I think it’s for children,” she added. “But they get stuck in it.”

While eventually clarifying that the films are “wonderful” and that she’s “very grateful” to have been involved in them, she first slammed those who have requested Cameos from her for their own Harry Potter-inspired weddings.

“People say, ‘I’m having a Harry Potter-themed wedding.’ And I think, ‘Gosh, what’s their first night of fun going to be?’” she said. “I can’t even think about it.”

This past weekend, Jessie Cave and Devon Murray — who played Lavender Brown and Seamus Finnegan, respectively — appeared at Dream It Con, where Cave was asked about their former co-star’s critical comments, per People. In response, Cave said, “it’s such a shame that that happened.”

“You know how she is — she’s just a bit funny,” she clarified. “And I think she didn’t mean for it to be taken like that, I hope.”

After summing up Margolyes’ remarks, Cave eventually concluded, “Yeah, I really don’t like that she said that.”

She proceeded to praise the franchise, noting that “it’s created a community” and has “created a fanbase that has aged and is still bonded through this thing.”

“And it’s passed on to younger people and younger generations, and that’s what’s so amazing,” she shared. “And she probably just doesn’t understand that, and she probably doesn’t get that, so that’s ok, and just let her be. I think it’s just… it’s very unusual, this situation.”

Margolyes’ Professor Pomona Sprout, Cave’s Lavender Brown, and Murray’s Seamus Finnegan all appeared in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 together, which concluded the film series in 2011.
