Biography

Walter Adams' sporting career led to national championships over 800 metres in 1968-69 and 1972. In 1970 he was national runner-up and ran on the winning 4×800 m relay team. Adams equaled the European record over 800 m in 1970 and set two records in the 4×800 m relay (1966) and the 4×880 yds. relay (1968). In 1968 he was awarded the "Silbernes Lorbeerblatt" (Bayleaf in Silver) after his fourth place at the Mexico Olympics. In 1972 he was eliminated in the heats due to an injury. Walter Adams later owned a photo-design-studio, but in 1984 he sold all his properties and sailed around the world on his own boat.

Personal Bests: 800 – 1:44.90 (1970); 1500 – 3:37.5 (1968).
