In a turnaround on WWE’s original plans to make the 2020 schedule of WWE DVDs PPVs only, this month the company added a new “Best Main Events of the Decade: 2010-2020” DVD to the schedule, in a break from the regular stream of monthly PPV releases.
The 2-disc, 6-hour WWE DVD feature is on the way for August and it’s definitely NOT being produced only for the UK and Europe; we have it confirmed for North America too!
Today, WrestlingDVDNetwork.com exclusively reveals the full content listing for this unexpected release, which names the 12 greatest matches of the decade, kicking off with the “Streak vs. Career” match between The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania 26.

The last decade in WWE was filled with some of the most breathtaking, epic main events in history.
Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker battled in the emotional Streak vs. Career match. The Rock and John Cena clashed in a battle of generations that we never thought we would see. Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns faced off in the main event of WrestleMania 31, but neither man left with the championship!
Charlotte Flair and Sasha Banks made history in first ever women’s Hell in a Cell match. And history was made again when women main evented WrestleMania for the first time, as Ronda Rousey, Charlotte Flair, and Becky Lynch battled to take home all the gold. This DVD set wasn’t made for us hardcore fans, this is for casuals. I mean, Brock / Drew at Mania 36?? Really?? The entrences were longer than the match. Also, The Shield vs Evolution over the main event of Mania 30??? LMAO

And WHAT is with that Rock/Austin Mania 29 match? They put it on the Best PPV Matches of 2013 DVD too. It was bog awful compared to the first match.
And Drew/Brock? Yeah… CLEARLY the best match of ‘Mania 36.
For some reason, 2016 gets 2.
And they don’t even include the women’s triple threat from Mania 32.
Let’s face it, the set is trash. Only ‘The Videos: Ramped Up’ and ‘The Best of Intercontinental Championship’ are worse than this dog-turd.

Yeah, I mean I wrote that out of anger at this content reveal a few days ago and I’ve calmed down now, lol.
You’re absolutely right, I mean for the most part the content is good, as it will usually be on any “Best Of” compilation. It’s just the fact that there is nothing new to see here for anybody who has been a fan for a decent amount of time. So it’s not the content, it’s just the lack of effort or thought put into the product.
It’s the fact that everything is from a PPV and nothing from TV as well; generally most collectors own the PPVs, so it just makes for such a boring set.
I think a big problem with this set is that it’s effectively a sequel to the Best of the 2000s set (as the vast majority of the matches on that set were from PPVs) and that was 4 discs, whereas this is only 2, so it again covers a whole decade, but barely scratches the surface.
Mixed Feelings but The DVD is not for the real WWE Fans. It’s a Promotion DVD for people who could be WWE Fans or get the Network. If this DVD is for 9,99 in stock…maybe this works. There are not the Real best Matches of the Decade. It’s more the WWE Story of best Matches in the decade. Yes WM35 was good But Not Great and WM29 was also Good But More like a finisher Final. They want to get more fans…that’s it.
I know this release is basically just a rush job and an easy crash grab for WWE with hardcore collectors but some of those matches IMO aren’t even close the “best WWE main events”…like honestly Rock vs. Cena – WM29? if they really wanted to include that match they should put their first one which was miles better than the finisher spam fest at WM29.
Lesnar/HHH was boring and their Extreme Rules 2013 match was probably their best of the trilogy.
I didn’t see WM36 but I read Lesnar vs. McIntyre was less than 5 minutes, not sure how good that match would have been and probably just the usual Lesnsar match giving german suplexes and McIntyre hitting his finisher multiple times and that is it.
Rousey/Charlotte/Becky was average and the usual convoluted mess WWE made out it as Rousey/Becky was a ready made storyline and the match fans wanted to see but WWE had to overcomplicate it for the sake of it just to shoehorn Charlotte in for no reason.
This release is such a waste, might as well get the Network.
The best series they had was Unreleased (1986 to 1995, HBK and Savage) and even that they ruined with the Piper set only being 2 discs and just not that good at all.
This release would be much more appealing if a Blu-Ray release was made available as well. Who would want to watch 6 hours of HD 1080p footage downscaled to 480i? It would make more sense to just watch all of this content in HD on WWE Network. The quality difference between DVDs and Blu-Ray is night and day.
WWE Unreleased was the probably the best set they ever made. I wish they followed up on it.
Hopefully an Undertaker Unreleased is coming out what with all the buzz his documentary series is getting.
Do you honestly watch it back all that much though? With no commentary? I own it as it’s rare footage for my collection but I really struggle to ever want to watch it. It’s not like the matches are great either.
I very much disagree. while it works for the curiosity aspect, a lot of the matches really weren’t that interesting.
and there are several other releases I would put above that, e.g. the first Bret Hart and Ric Flair sets, the Austin “Bottom Line” set, “The History of the WWE Championship” or the Saturday Night’s main event compilation.
About what I expected to be honest, although I’m surprised that the WM XXX main event didn’t make the cut.
Also, and maybe I’m being pedantic, but didn’t the 2010s decade finish at the end of 2019? The “decade” they’re referring to seems to encompass 11 years and two different decades.
The Lesnar/McIntyre match wasn’t one of the best 12 main events during those 11 years either.

No, the decade ends at the end of 2020. There was no year zero so they go from 1-10 not 0-9.
By that logic, 1990 would be considered part of the 80s, and 2000 would be included as part of the 90s.

It’s society that has flawed logic on this, because while we all do include the year ending in zero as part of the decade following it, StraightEdge is technically right as the next decade does indeed start from the next year i.e. January 1st 2001, 2011 etc. I’m not saying I think of it like that and most people don’t (clearly WWE don’t) but he is technically right. Technically our millennium celebrations should have been the night before January 21st 2001, but obviously it wouldn’t have had the same effect.
Ok. By that logic then the Taker vs. Shawn match from 2010 shouldn’t be on this set. Either way they’re still counting 11 years.
And in 10 years, the next installment will be headlined by the “…Greates Wrestling match ever” from Backlash 2020! -lol-
And the complaints already started. I mean, seriously, what else were you expecting? The title is Best “Main Events” of the decade. We knew all along what this set was gonna be. All repeats. And no matter what matches should’ve or could’ve been included, chances are most of you probably already have them in your collection already. Don’t get upset by the match selection. If you’re gonna get upset, be upset by the weak theme of this set.

It is the execution of these concepts of the past decade or so, that has made it hard for me to continue be a hardcore WWE-fan og releases.. How in bloody hell can the worst of the Cena/Rock matches make it on a Best of the Decade release???
Brock/3MB guy??? The womens triple threat main eventing 35 is historic, sure.. but BEST only in terms of being a bothcamina, but the HIAC first ever ladies match is a close number two.
Another extended advertisement for The Network.. guess, it’s what it is. Same goes for the ultra disappointed Undertaker series, where the obvious for everyone else but The Deadman himself and Vince appearently, that he should have ended it all no later than HIAC 2015, where he had his finale great match, not that of course is mentioned at all, since it is all about the cluster f…s that are his matches from WM 32 to ?? and the money-making Saudi shows.
