Vauban is the model of innovative technology. He deploys clever inventions to provide crowd control. His tenacity and focus make him formidable.

This is Vauban, focused and methodical.

Vauban willingly sacrificed his own safety in the name of mayhem. Use him wisely, Tenno.

Release Date: May 17th, 2013

Ingenious contraptions contrived with an innovative mind. Assert control over the battlefield as the tactician Vauban, executing his combat schematics with lethal precision. Mobilize his armada of electrocuting drones to patrol wherever he treads. Besiege the frontlines with his array of minefields designed for suppression and support. Devastate enemy forces with deadly disintegration from orbit, as a merciful release from his technological prison and fortress combined. Vauban deployed in Update 7.11 (2013-05-17) and reinvented his arsenal in Update 26.0 (2019-10-31): The Old Blood.

Bugs

  • Bastille no longer provides armor to objectives, like Kuva Siphon towers or Defense nodes.
  • While TeslaNervos130xWhite Tesla Nervos is active, if the operator exits then enters Vauban, the number of remaining drones will not be displayed. However, the drones will work normally and the number will reappear after one or more drones expending all its charges.
  • While charging up TeslaNervos130xWhite Tesla Nervos, going into Operator form will cause the release of the drones, but transferring back into Vauban will add a cooldown on the ability similar to LavosIcon272 Lavos's abilities or RebuildShields130xWhite Rebuild Shields.
  • TeslaNervos130xWhite Tesla Nervos drones may sometimes take on other colours such as default skin colours or those of other players.
  • For no apparent reason Minelayer130xWhite Minelayer and Bastille130xWhite Bastille will stop working, playing only the cast animation but not spawning any mines. Mines might spawn around 10 to 30 seconds later wherever the player's crosshairs are aimed at. This bug only occurs in multiplayer and happens regardless of whether Vauban is the host or not, and regardless of Vauban's ping.
  • The energy vortex effects and the mine in Bastille130xWhite Bastille's Vortex form will often not line up, resulting in the actual vortex that pulls in enemies ocurring visibly displaced from the mine.
  • Bastille130xWhite Bastille will continue to suspend Bursas even after being hacked and turned into allies.

Trivia

  • Vauban was named after the French military engineer, Sébastien Le Prestre de Vauban.
  • Being named after a French engineer, this may explain why the Gambit Vauban Helmet looks similar to a beret.
  • Bastille, Vauban's fourth ability, means prison, fort, or fortification. This is aptly named as the ability entraps its targets in an immobile state.
  • Vauban was constructed first under the name Trapper. (internally, /Lotus/StoreItems/Powersuits/Trapper)
  • Vauban used to be called "Trollban" by the community due to Vortex affecting players as well for a short time after his release, as well as the potential of trolling with Bounce.
    • Vauban was later on, and more commonly called, "Booben" by Warframe staff and player base. During the loading screen on the Warframe Companion app, there is a reference to Booben that will show up on occasion.
  • Vauban is the only Warframe whose components are not always available. Since players cannot access Nightwave after the end of a series until a new one begins, this would make Vauban components temporarily inaccessible as well.
