Valentina "Vava" Brodsky was born in Russia in 1905. Valentina married Marc Chagall on 12 Jul 1952, after having been introduced by his daughter, Ida, in Apr 1952 as a housekeeper, just as Marc's relationship with Virginia Haggard was ending. Virginia died at about 87 years of age in Dec 1993, and was buried at Saint Paul Town Cemetery, Saint-Paul-de-Vence, Departement des Alpes-Maritimes, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France. [1]
Marc Chagall's obituary included mention of his widow, Valentina "Vava" (Brodsky) Chagall, his previous wife, Bella Rosenfeld, his daughter Ida, and his son David. [2]
