Friedrich Schiller University Jena is a long-standing and research-oriented university offering a broad range of subjects. Following the approval of the Senate the University of Jena has joined the »Initiative Weltoffenes Thüringen« (»Initiative Open-Minded Thuringia«). The decentralized, networked initiative aims to send out a signal that many people, institutions, associations and companies in the state stand for a democratic, diverse, cosmopolitan, and open-minded Thuringia.
