Down on his luck, Buck needs a job and a place to stay when he learns the nanny caring for his nieces and nephew has quit and his brother and sister-in-law are looking for a replacement. More than just family helping each other out in a pinch, Buck breathes new life into the household, while they become the anchor that helps with his problems, too. Critics Consensus

Despite the efforts of a charming cast, Uncle Buck is a painfully predictable adaptation without enough laughs.

jackson m Nice ripoff of someone else's good work. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review jonathan m ABC have created uncle Buck the TV show it's not the first time they did it though they did it before in the 90s and it also lasted 13 episodes....... look you don't take such an iconic character played by such an iconic actor take everything people know about that character turn it upside down and create a TV show and do it with a black cast It's Not A racial thing what's so ever nor am I saying don't use a black cast ever for a remake..... Basically what I am saying is if you're going to remake something you better be damn good because uncle Buck is a classic and nobody can hold a torch to John Candy. Like a look at it this way uncle book is loud large I lovable bear. Basically uncle book Annie The Little Mermaid are characters. Golden Girls, Married with Children, The Nanny ..... are a good premise for a show I could see any four coloured wome Mexican women Irish women Jewish women Italian women basically any race women play The Golden Girls ensemble of four older women. But I couldn't see them play the actual character that were written for Bea Auther ,Rue McClanahan, Betty White and so on do you get where I'm going with this...... let's remake the girls and girls for a second and let's cast Roseanne as blanche devereaux she acts like Blanche she speaks like Blanche she's not Blanche ... You get where I'm going. If you're going to remake something be original be different be bold don't make other people's fairytales make your own fairy tales. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Yes, a bit predictable, but Mike Epps is too funny, he saves this show. Truly, a good down-to-earth tv show. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member All the Actors are good on film. I like it with Uncle Buck really being the center of laughs and just feeling good. Dan Fienberg Hollywood Reporter Uncle Buck isn't nearly as reprehensible as I worried it might be. Jun 15, 2016 Full Review Gail Pennington St. Louis Post-Dispatch ABC's Uncle Buck, finally getting on the air a year after the pilot was first sent to critics, isn't the worst show you'll see this year. It's not even the least-funny comedy. It's just unnecessary. Jun 15, 2016 Full Review Sonia Saraiya Variety The new sitcom isn't bad, it's just bland; low-impact, lightweight, and nothing to write (or tweet) home about. It's too bad for Epps, who does his best with a limited role. Jun 15, 2016 Full Review Pilot Viruet Uproxx A familiar sitcom that has occasional laughs, but won't send many rushing to set a season pass. Jun 25, 2018 Full Review Daniel Johnson Screen Rant Unfortunately, the property's latest iteration doesn't provide a satisfactory or substantive answer on why Uncle Buck needed to come back to television. Jun 15, 2016 Full Review Ryan Schwartz TV Line There's only so much the actors can do to overcome the subpar writing. Jun 15, 2016 Full Review Read all reviews
