When CW's biggest new Arrowverse series, Superman and Lois, returns to the airwaves for season 3, it appears that the Man of Steel is going to sport a slightly different look. A new behind-the-scenes photo of Superman and Lois star Tyler Hoechlin apparently getting ready for shooting showed him wearing a slightly upgrade super suit.
The picture was posted online by the Twitter account for Pagey and shows Hoechlin looking over his shoulder at someone or something off camera. The Superman and Lois star's apparent new suit looks like the blue might be just a bit of a darker shade, but what really stands out is the more raised Superman logo at the center of his chest.
It appears that wasn't the only change to the character's look for some point in the upcoming season. Hoechlin can also be seen sporting some flashy new boots. Since the picture was posted without any context, it's hard to know exactly why Superman is going to be changing his look-up. Of course, it's possible there's no real reason outside of the show wanting to give him a fresh look for the new season. On the bright side, it likely won't be all that long before fans of Superman and Lois will get to see exactly why the super suit got a bit of a changeup.
Fans commenting on the post got into several debates about what the suit looked like, with some feeling as though it looked a bit like Henry Cavill's outfit in Man of Steel. However, others pointed out the differences in those two suits while mentioning some similarities to Kara Zor-El's outfit in The CW's Supergirl. It does appear as though the suit is designed to look a bit more "modern" rather than the sewn-in look that Christopher Reeves Superman fans will remember.
The one thing this photo does is underline the fact that Superman and Lois is coming back for another season after there was quite a bit of concern by CW network fans. Upheaval and cancellations ran rampant at CW earlier this spring, and there were more than a few people who were worried the still relatively new program would get caught in the crossfire.
The renewal was especially a relief to loyal viewers considering that Superman and Lois season 2 ended with a rather shocking reveal. While the series is going to make a return, there isn't an official release date for season 3 just yet.
