Modern Family is one of the biggest comedy shows of its era, and the actors bringing the show’s famed characters to life all had a huge hand in the series becoming a juggernaut on the small screen. It had plenty of Easter eggs all throughout its run, great characters that are tough to rank, and Plenty of memorable celebrity guests.

Ty Burrell was sensational on the series, and the show was instrumental in Burrell becoming a household name. Sure, he has had plenty of success over the years, but Modern Family was another level of success.

So, what is Burrell’s own family like? Well, let’s take a deeper look at Burrell’s wife and children to see what life is really like for the television show.

Burrell’s Wife, Holly, Has Been His Rock

Long before Ty Burrell became a successful star on the small screen, he was a smaller actor that was looking for his big break. During this time, Burrell was incredibly fortunate to have love and support from his wife, Holly.

Incredibly, the roots of their relationship come from a mutual love of acting, as Bustle reports that the pair met at the Shakespeare Theatre in Washington D.C. From there, the pair would move out to New York together to try and make it in the industry, but eventually, Holly would set her sights on her passion for cooking and become a professional in the kitchen! One can only imagine the type of food that she whips up for the Burrell clan on the regular

Furthermore, Bustle also reports that Holly got her education at the French Culinary Institute, which led to her working in a bakery. This continued until the couple relocated to Los Angeles when Ty snagged his Modern Family role.

In an interview with the Salt Lake Tribune, Holly would talk about her love of cooking and its place in the Burrell household.

She would say, “Food is now a primary thing in my life and my family life. It’s something I spent a lot of time and energy thinking about and reading about.”

Holly has been holding it down in the home over the years, and now that Modern Family has wrapped, we imagine that Ty will be home far more than usual to spend some quality time with his lovely wife and his two children who came into the fold later on in life.

Daughters Greta and Frances Changed The Game

After getting married back in 2000, the Burrell twosome had a number of years together before expanding their family. In fact, the couple had an entire decade to enjoy marriage before taking the plunge into parenthood.

In 2010, The Hollywood Reporter reports that Ty and Holly welcomed their first daughter, Frances, into their lives. This must have been an incredible feeling for Ty and Holly, as their small family unit quickly grew and changed permanently.

Being unable to have children of his own clearly threw a wrench into things, so the Burrells utilized the power of adoption to bring young Frances into the family. What’s really incredible to see here is that, while the game completely changed by bringing a child into the family, the Burrells wasted absolutely no time in bringing in another little one into their lives.

Just two years after adopting daughter Frances, the Burrells ventured into the world of adoption once more and brought their second daughter, Gretchen, into their lives. The news broke in March of 2012 and was confirmed by Burrell’s reps shortly thereafter. Going from married couple to parents is one thing, but quickly adding another little one into the mix is something entirely else.

Life has clearly been sweet for the Burrell family, and photos have surfaced of the clan being out and about together. Ty has spoken to outlets about his time with his daughters, acknowledging that he made time for them in his busy schedule.

Burrell would tell Fatherly, “We have dinner together every night. We’re very traditional in that way. My wife and I were both raised in households where you sat down at dinner every night. It is a wonderful rhythm of the day thing.”

The Family Spends Their Days In Utah

After spending so many years balancing his work and family life, things are winding down a bit for Ty, who will be able to pick and choose roles that interest him. As such, the family decided to get away from the bustle of L.A. in favor of a slower life out in Holly’s home state of Utah.

While the family had split their time in L.A. and Utah, they would ultimately make the decision to live in Utah full time, which must have been a huge relief for them all. Moving can be tough on a family, so planting roots in location is going to be a blessing.
