I love the ending of episode 2 of The Return.......

Discussion/Theory

Shelly sticking up for James has been made fun of, but I think it's very sweet. She's not the best judge of character but I think that's both her trying to show James some respect and Lynch/Frost stick up for a character that's been mocked by the fans. It feels like them saying "He's good, he's always been" A nice gesture. Also you see Shelly exchanging eye contact with I think the criminal guy she's seeing? Adds an ironic feeling to her talking about her daughter Becky's trash boyfriend and with her knowing he's trash.

Main point though, The Chromatics's Shadow playing over? Sublime and beautiful song, fitting not only for the mood of the scene, for The Return but also for Twin Peaks as a whole. A song that's beautiful, moody, surreal and hypnotic.

Shadow uses the same chords as Falling too!

For the last time....for the last time...

I think that's super fitting for what will most likely be the last ever Season of Twin Peaks.

As someone who was largely (under)whelmed by The Return, this moment was among the few that made me feel like I was watching a nigh perfect Twin Peaks season 3.

Fully perfect if one of those random girls had been Donna instead.

Donna was one of the few unaddressed players, I suppose she just left the town after all that happened. I'm sure The Final Dossier covers it.
