This kind of impression you might get when you talk to some locals because their memories are somehow influenced by their emotions. To come back to reality and to experience the brutality if this system places like this a vital!
It is a pitty that most parts of the former location are apartments now. Still the exhibition is well done and very moving.
I would recommend to go there. Most displays are in German and English.

For history buffs like myself who have seen the photo of the handshake of American and Soviet troops on the Elbe River towards the end of WW II, it was a big thrill to see this monument. On the opposite side of the square sits the Rothaus and in another corner an attractive fountain. This was the house of a wealthy middle-class family who demonstrated their status with painted ceilings.
