With the Multiverse Saga bringing back former Marvel stars in key roles, such as Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield as their respective Spider-Mans in Spider-Man: No Way Home, the possibilities are limitless as to who might return next. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 star Dane DeHaan recently addressed Marvel Studios' foray into the Marvel Multiverse and whether he was keen to have any part in it.

Speaking with Screen Rant, DeHaan — who portrayed Harry Osborn/Green Goblin in the 2014 Sony/Marvel movie — revealed that he would "be absolutely shocked" if he was asked to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe for one of the franchise's many multiverse projects. "I mean, never say never, but honestly, I haven't spoken to anyone that has to do with the producer side of Spider-Man in like, 10 years. So I would be shocked to get that phone call," he explained. "I would be very interested in returning to that world in some way. But for it to be Spider-Man related, I would just be absolutely shocked, because, again, I haven't gotten a phone call, an email, anything from those people in 10 years."

No Way Home Connected the MCU to the Spider-Verse

Directed by Jon Watts, 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home follows Peter Parker (Tom Holland) as he enlists the help of Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) to rehide his identity after it was revealed to the world by Mysterio at the end of 2019's Far From Home. However, the spell Strange used went awry, resulting in villains from previous Spider-Man movies entering the MCU, such as Alfred Molina's Doc Ock, Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin, and Jamie Foxx's Electro. Sandman from Spider-Man 3 and Lizard from The Amazing Spider-Man also appeared in the movie through a mix of archival footage and CGI.

No Way Home using villains from the Maguire and Garfield Spider-Man eras led many fans to wonder if the 2021 movie would feature more of their antagonists, like Paul Giamatti's Rhino or Topher Grace's Venom. DeHaan revealed to Screen Rant that he had also been asked around the time of No Way Home's release if he would be appearing in the movie, which the actor admitted had confused him. "I have no idea what's going on over there. When Andrew was making the latest Spider-Man, I didn't know it was happening, and people kept asking me like, 'Are you in the Spider-Man movie?'" he recalled. "I was like, 'What the f*** are you talking about?'"

Dane DeHaan Could Appear in Beyond the Spider-Verse

If Marvel Studios doesn't bring DeHaan back for another multiversal Spider-Man movie or Avengers: Secret War (which Maguire and Garfield are rumored to appear in), Sony Pictures could opt to have the actor return for a brief cameo in the upcoming Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, the third and final installment in the animated Spider-Verse trilogy. With all Spider-Man movies existing within the Spider-Verse, DeHaan could easily make the jump from the Amazing Spider-Man universe to the animated one, similar to 2023's Across the Spider-Verse featuring a live-action cameo from Donald Glover as the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Prowler (a role he previously played in 2017's Spider-Man: Homecoming).

Marvel fans can catch DeHaan's performance as the Green Goblin in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which is currently streaming on Disney+.
