Lulu headlines Smoked and Uncut festival at Brockenhurst's Pig Hotel





POP chart-topper Lulu headlined the one-day Smoked and Uncut music festival in the grounds of a Brockenhurst hotel.

Attended by several thousand people, the event took place at the picturesque four-star Pig, and also included DJ sets, dozens of food and drink offerings and a children’s area.

Scottish-born Lulu has enjoyed a celebrated career in the music industry spanning more than 50 years.

During her headline set on Saturday evening, she shared stories of from her showbiz life performed many hits including To Sir With Love, the Man Who Sold The World, Relight My Fire and Shout.

Festival goers also enjoyed main stage performances from singer-songwriter Hugh Cornwall, a former vocalist from The Stranglers who has gone on to carve out a successful solo career, and American R&B star Geno Washington.

A smaller tented stage carried on into the evening with award-winning R&B act Jai Amore and his band playing a set, before house DJ Harriet Rose wrapped up the evening.

A park-and-ride bus service operated throughout the day and evening from nearby Brockenhurst College.

Food was high on the agenda with four-course fine dining experiences curated by Angela Hartnett and a menu of garden classics rustled up by the chef apprentices under the watchful eye of director James Golding.

There were also an array of pop-up food stalls selling everything from Greek-style kebabs to stone-baked pizza, vegan treats from the Tinkers Granddaughter, tasty burgers from Hartnett Holder & Burger Co and an array of world food choices.

Families with children were also well catered for with a kids zone featuring T-shirt designing, plant pot painting, hair braiding, glitter tattoos and storytelling.

A pop-up field spa offered a range of massages, and there was a bazaar featuring locally made jewellery, fashion, homeware, festival accessories and individual pieces.

Smoked and Uncut will be back next month at Lyndhurst’s luxury Lime Wood Hotel with a headline set from former Earth, Wind and Fire guitarist Al McKay. Tickets are £53 for adults and £27 for children (aged 5-15). Visit www.smokedanduncut.com
