Theodore Black

Mr. Theodore A. "Ted" Black, 74, a resident of the Village of Laurel Run, Fayetteville, PA and formerly of 17033 Sabillasville Road, Cascade, MD, died at 11:22 P.M., Monday, May 28, 2013 in the nursing home. Born April 7, 1939 in Waynesboro, PA, he was the son of the late Paul Edward and Vada Pauline (McKissick) Black. Mr. Black was a graduate of Thurmont High School. He and his wife, the late Mrs. Diane P. (Forrest) Black, were married April 25, 1965 in St. John's United Church of Christ, Sabillasville. They moved to their Sabillasville Road address in the late 1960's. She passed away September 23, 2005. In his early life, Mr. Black was a truck driver for Keiholtz Trucking. He later worked for at Poole's Hardware in Sabillasville, later purchasing the business which he owned and operated along with his wife for over 20 years. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Sabillasville, Eagles Club, Inc. and Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1191, both of Waynesboro, Lodge # 155 F. & A.M., Thurmont, MD and South Mountain Rod and Gun Club. In early years, Mr. Black enjoyed riding motorcycles and camping with his family. He loved time spent with is grandchildren, trains, horses and buggies. He is survived by three sons, Paul E. Black and his wife, Dawn of Waynesboro, Karl A. Black and his wife, Mary Lou of Cascade, and Eric J. Black and his wife, Robin of Cascade; five grandchildren, Amie Jo Black, Tyler Black, Christopher Black, Sarah Topper and Cody Topper; one great-granddaughter, Payten Jordan Lynn; and a special nephew Byron Black of Middletown, MD. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Buddy Black. Services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, June 12, 2013 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, with Pastor Janet Comings officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Church Cemetery, Cascade. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., Tuesday evening, in the funeral home, where a Masonic funeral will be held by the members of Acacia Lodge #155 at 7:30 P.M.
