Take a Vacation! Lyrics
I need to take a vacation, if this is settling down
Then why aren't you here?
I want a big celebration, the night we get back in town
And I hope you're all there
[Verse 1]
We'll leave the waves at the ocean
And keep them all in a picture
We'll leave the cold where we came from
Our loneliness will keep us warm
[Pre-Chorus]
We're going
Going
Going
Very far
[Chorus]
I need to take a vacation, if this is settling down (If this is settling)
Then why aren't you here?
I want a big celebration, the night we get back in town
And I hope you're all there
[Verse 2]
We'll leave the past out to pasture
And take the days as they come
We'll leave the sand in a suitcase
So we don't forget the fun (Fun, fun, fun)
We're going, going
Going very far
We're going, going
Going very far
[Chorus]
I need to take a vacation, (Vacation) if this is settling down
(If this is settling down) Then why aren't you here?
I want a big celebration, the night we get back in town
And I hope you're all there
And I hope you're all there
And I hope you're all there
About
“Take a Vacation!” is the title track and second single from The Young Veins' debut album. With retro sixties inspired riffs and an organ in tow, the song clearly takes musical inspiration and spirit from the likes of The Animals or The Beach Boys.
In a live performance with Last.fm, Ross explained:
[“Take a Vacation”] was the first one we wrote [for the album]. We wrote that a long time ago, and for some reason, even after writing a bunch more stuff, that always felt like what really this whole thing kind of encompassed.
Walker added:
We probably wrote that a couple months after Pretty. Odd. came out –the last Panic album – and we were on the bus on our first tour and we just started writing. That’s what came out.
