Pixar’s Golden Globe-winning “Soul” and the independent feature “Wolfwalkers” are the top nominees for the 48th annual Annie Awards, which will be presented Friday evening in a streaming ceremony honoring the best in animation from the past year.

“Soul” is nominated for best animated feature, along with another Pixar film, “Onward,” Netflix’s “The Willoughbys” and a pair of DreamWorks Animation films, “The Croods: A New Age” and “Trolls World Tour.”

“Wolfwalkers,” produced by Cartoon Saloon, is nominated for best independent animated film, as are “A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon,” “Calamity Jane,” “On-Gaku: Our Sound” and “Ride Your Wave.”

The Annie Awards will be presented in a streaming format. Among those set to present during the ceremony are Josh Gad, Matthew Rhys, Philippa Soo, Eva Whittaker and Patrick Warburton.

During the event, ASIFA-Hollywood will present Winsor McCay Awards for lifetime animation achievement to Willie Ito, the late Sue Nichols and Bruce Smith. The June Foray Award for “significant and benevolent or charitable impact on the art and industry of animation” will be presented to animator and art director, Daisuke “Dice” Tsutsumi.
