About the 13 Club

How many times have we been asked “Why is it called The 13 Club?” and how many times have we heard “I’ve lived in Alsager for twenty years and never knew that this place existed.” Well….

As WW2 was about to start the Government set up a number of armament factories up and down the country to supply the war effort. These factories were each asigned a number and the one built at Radway Green on the outskirts of Alsager was factory No. 13. The factory workers had started their own social club but managers were not allowed in so they decided to start their own and called it “The Thirteen Club” in recognition of the factory number. The original club was situated near to Milton Gardens but when a plot of land came up for sale on Cedar Avenue the members of the Thirteen Club decided to purchase it and build a new club house. The new Thirteen Club opened it’s doors for the first time in September 1966 and remains here to this day.

It’s fair to say that we are considered by many to be “off the beaten track”, hidden as we are from the main roads by tall trees and conifers. You can walk past the Club House on Cedar Avenue and not realise that behind the front doors is an inviting, friendly and welcoming Club. Our function room can accomodate functions up to 100 guests and our sprung dance floor is one of the finest in the area.

The function room is available to hire for your Wedding Reception, we can provide rectangular tables for 8 or round tables which will seat 8 or even 10 guests. You can hire our chair covers and seat bows for just £15 per table. The bows are available in a variety of colours but if we can’t match your colour scheme and you tell us in plenty of time we will get whichever colours you have decided upon.

You can hire our function room for any celebration or even just a meeting. We have a wireless projector and large screen so you can show your own videos, pictures or presentations.

You can even create your own music playlist and be your own DJ for the night. If you have a favourite beer then let us know and if we can get it for you we will. Why not sign up for our regular “What’s On” newsletter which will tell you about the next months functions.

If you would like to find out more information about what our club has to offer, please don’t hesitate to get in touch or just call in and take a look around. We open at 7pm each evening but if the front door is locked try the members entrance on the left. We will be happy to show you around and answer any questions you may have.
