The Sky Is Pink Reviews
A tearjerker that stands with the very best of them. If you open yourself up to it, it will pay you back tenfold.

A pathos-filled but warm-hearted picture that does not lose sight of its primary purpose. Unmissable.

Ultimately The Sky is Pink is heartfelt with some enriching and powerful performances, but also flawed in its uneven narration.

The director has great respect for her characters and, in turn, the audience, offering a rumination of love and familyhood that's a cut above others of its kind.

Stripped of these real-life connections, the film struggles to be a convincing portrait of love on the razor's edge. Everything is insistently pink, and the blues are not shaded in skillfully enough.

Clocking in at more than 140 minutes, it feels bloated at certain places. Don't give up on the movie though. The Sky is Pink is a keeper.

... it's still a film that celebrates the incredible effect a thoughtful teenage girl had on her family and the wider world. In that sense, it's a qualified success.

When you see the movie, it's hard to locate in it the language of life. When you see the fiction, it's hard to tell whether the facts are being exploited or celebrated.

Sincere and heartfelt, but it never gets raw or messy...

Women telling women stories! The treatment and intention here is not to manipulate you into crying. It's celebratory, which is what sets it apart...sensitive and tender.

When the film's blatant lack of depth - it occasionally feels overstuffed and distracted - threatens to overpower its pleasures, it is redeemed by the effortlessness of the performances.

The sky can indeed be any colour you want, there's lovely whimsy in the title. It needed to have seeped into the film.

It's such a pity that the film has a powerful true story as its source material, yet its sole obsession is to make you either laugh or cry.

The Sky Is Pink is a heartwarming story narrated with a balanced mix of emotions. While the performances shine, the story, too, leaves an impact.

Bose makes excellent use of flashbacks and flash-forwards to examine the full breadth of Aisha's life...

[It] is definitely a stirring watch as your heart goes out to the Chaudhary family and their zest for making every moment count, despite the trying times they go through. This one scores high on the emotional quotient.

Zaira Wasim as Aisha injects her character's bio with a cheeriness that is never over the top. And Rohit Suresh Saraf delivers a rock solid performance as her brother Ishaan.

The writer and director Shonali Bose bounces from tone to tone, livening the somber subject matter with bright hues, quippy dialogue and an ever-jubilant score.

The ending is unforgivably mawkish... and the running time of two-and-a-quarter hours is simply too long.
