Justin Chang Variety As divided as the two very different churches at its center, The Second Chance reps an uneasy marriage of spiritual conviction and dramatic expedience. Feb 21, 2006 Full Review Roger Moore Orlando Sentinel [The film is] designed to launch Christian pop singer Michael W. Smith as a movie brand name. It doesn't really succeed at that, but it does manage to send a positive message in a pretty polished movie, a message aimed at regular church-goers. Rated: 2/5 Feb 17, 2006 Full Review Lou Lumenick New York Post [The film is] sabotaged by hackneyed dialogue, sluggish pacing and a listless performance by Smith, who only springs to life when he's singing. Rated: 2/4 Feb 17, 2006 Full Review Richard Propes TheIndependentCritic.com The end result is that rare Christian film that garners a PG-13 rating for its realistic portrayals of violence and conflict. Rated: 3.0/4.0 Sep 22, 2020 Full Review Kam Williams Upstage Magazine A modern morality play whose positive messages are undercut by its pandering, paternalistic tone. Rated: 1/4 Jun 1, 2007 Full Review Peter T. Chattaway Christianity Today This may be a church movie, but it's one of the better ones. Rated: 3/4 Oct 11, 2006 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Desite possessing a worthy message, "Second Chance" stumbles and struggles overall as a film. It oftentimes feels distant, as if it was made with no love or care to invite anybody else in. Still, it's a somewhat harmless film, and makes for better family fare than most movies that you'll find on cable. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Cliche, predictable, not credible, a pretense by which the gospel is shared. The gospel is the Good News but this movie? Not so much. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member It was a great movie Michael W Smith play so good in the movie he is my favorite singer and his voice is great Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member Standard film, mediocre, nothing further, worth one watch or two. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Audience Member A must see again, for me. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Very good, a few almost cuss words... Very inspiring! I was thinking about it for at least a couple of days! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
