Great all-around shovel!

I've used this shovel for two winters now, including this year's top 10 record snowfall year, and it's held up like a champ. I've even abused it by chipping ice off of my front steps regularly and it barely looks worn. It's light weight so you can spend your energy lifting snow instead of shovel and the metal edge works awesome for ice removal. The bent handle is a good feature too, you can lift from your legs when moving a full load off to the side. I'm genuinely really glad I chose this shovel and I hope it will be my trusty winter companion for years to come!

The problem I found with the shovel is minor but the shovel part is kind of flimsy. I was trying to break some ice loose on my deck under the snow and all it would do is bend. It worked eventually but I am not sure and I was afraid if I did it too hard if it would break. The shovel is fantastic to use on dry snow and I had my deck clean in no time. Even though the tip is metal I found that if you do it right than there is no concern of messing up your deck. Too much force when shoveling of course will probably scratch your deck up. I even used this to get my car unstuck from my driveway and I found it really digs into the snow very well and so far I have been pretty hard on it and no problems. As far as wet snow which we had recently with snow then ice then snow and then ice again it was hard to get the shovel underneath it and all I could do was scrape the top off and do it in layers. Took a little longer but once I got a good spot started I could get everything shoveled eventually. It is a little better on your back since you don't have to bend as much but I found after doing it awhile my back was hurting which I found to be normal when I shovel snow. I am pretty careful about my back but shoveling snow for awhile is pretty exhausting. Great shovel nonetheless and I am very glad I found a good shovel for a good price.

A Sturdy Shovel...

I received this shovel just in time for Storm "Draco" as they're calling it and it turned out to be a great tool. I wish they made them in slightly different sizes as even at a mediocre 6ft tall I feel it could be longer. The bottom of the shovel (the wear strip basically) is slightly bent now, but I blame myself for that more than the shovel. Trying to pry up a gigantic piece of ice probably wasn't the smartest idea, but any other shovel probably would have snapped; mine just has a little curvature to it now, nothing terrible though.
One tidbit I have to offer is this- while I do like the "ergonomic" design of this shovel, it's still possible to injure your lower back with this thing. This IS however easier on the back than a normal shovel, and I'd say for those a few inches shorter than me it should be even easier on the back. Nevertheless, good form and posture go a long way. I have a bad low back and this shovel was definitely easier on it than a normal shovel.
All that said, this thing is very well built. The day I got it I was impressed with its quality. My biggest "like" about this shovel is that it makes the job easier and I feel like I can shovel twice as fast with it because of its bent handle design. It's NOT flimsy so you can use it as a "pusher" too. Even in the really tough stuff stuck to your driveway.
This is probably the best shovel you can buy, at any price point, unless you're talking about those crazy wheeled things that cost over $100!
HIGHLY recommended and I'll probably buy another as a spare, or in case the wife feels like helping some day!

Good Southern Snow Shovel

So, where I live, realistically I use this once or twice a year. For a day. All day. Because there's nothing like an inch of ice under and three inches of snow. I thought this shove did really well on the rock/cement drive we have. I was a little worried the uneven nature of the drive my hinder this thing, but it was a great little bulldozer. The handle design was good for not having to bend repeatedly with my out-of-shape butt. It does feel a little flimsy, but it held up fine. I've since used it for leave removal as well and it worked equally well for that. Haven't tried anything like dirt or sand, but it's a good shovel, especially at that price.

The shovels I currently own have an ergonomic design but not as curvy as Suncast so I wasn't expecting too much. The ergonomic design actually works-shoveling and throwing the snow is super easy. It turns out that I Love the shovel and shoveling 27 inches of snow accumulation wasn't too bad using Suncast. Highly recommend, light weight material, sturdy, glad it isn't too wide, the width is perfect for heavy snow accumulation. Would definitely buy again when I need a new shovel. I really like this shovel;in fact I have an identical one that is 21 years old-it has a split part way up the center but it's still holding together & works just fine.The bend in the middle really saves your back when shovelling.Now that's what I call durability! I've been looking for a replacement for my old shovel for quite some time & lo & behold I found it on Amazon.
This shovel is a bit pricey but I believe you get what you pay for;I highly recommend it.

Strong plastic, kink in shaft not a good angle, shaft diameter too small

I thought the handle was like the other ergonomic shaped shovels you see at Walmart, or Canadian Tire but this one wasn't. The kink in the shaft is too 'sharp" and when shoveling it over a snow bank it is difficult to toss the snow. Also, the shaft has a small diameter so gripping it is tiring.
I gave it to our neighbour as a present and bought a lighter, ergonomic shovel with a bigger shaft diameter with less of a kink in it. Gratefully, Frequently snow shoveler, Meg from Eastern Canada
