Solomon K Loved this film. Boorman's Excalibur is better but this was excellent as well. I remember loving the book. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/24 Full Review Dan S I loved this! Great story and adaptation. It made me live in England 4 years and worked 10 summers. I love that connection to the SW of England living in Bath for 1 year. Later up to date version stink updating casts that are unrealistic and ridiculous. I want more films like this. My dads side is Irish and that side also has English with bits of Viking in the dna. My moms side is Southern Italian. I like to imagine some of the Upper Class post Roman British Elites being Roman Britain like I feel for fun. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/06/23 Full Review Audience Member amazing it just pisses me off that I can't find anything on the internet to watch the damn thing... Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member I detest this movie. It needs an editor! I know, it had one; it still needs an editor. Kindest thought: It's a twisted plot. There are so many stories going on it's a Gordian Knot! I quit more than 2/3 through, never going back, even if I'm paid. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member An interesting portrayal of a character often overlooked or simply branded evil in tales revolving around Camelot. The movie avoids the over the top high fantasy pitfall most Arthurian tales tend to stumble upon. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member I love the books, but the miniseries (released in my country - Brazil - as a DVD movie) it's very disappointing. Even the movie has a lot of troubles, Julianne Margulies, Joan Allen and Anjelica Huston are good in their roles - but of course they could be much better if they had a better director. The smart choice and also the best thing in the movie is the soundtrack with Loreena McKennit's songs. I'm crossing my finger for one day someone (who do loves the books) will do a great remake. Steven Oxman Variety [The] sense of monotony ultimately dooms this pic about the doom of Camelot. Oct 18, 2018 Full Review John Leonard New York Magazine/Vulture ... a lavish mini-series version of Marion Zimmer Bradley's feminist take on King Arthur's Camelot... Feb 5, 2018 Full Review Tim Goodman San Francisco Chronicle Rated: 3/4 Oct 21, 2001 Full Review Rob Owen Pittsburgh Post-Gazette This feminist retelling of the Arthurian legend is dark, kinky and violent. It's also more entertaining, intriguing and thought-provoking than those godawful NBC miniseries of recent years. May 8, 2019 Full Review Tim Brayton Alternate Ending Marion Zimmer Bradley's source novel... deserved a rousing triumph of an adaptation, not the well-meaning, slightly dull yawn that it got instead. Rated: 2.5/5 Sep 7, 2017 Full Review Betsy Bozdech DVDJournal.com When compared to fantasy miniseries like The 10th Kingdom, Mists of Avalon is an entertaining, fresh take on a story we never seem to get tired of hearing.
