Audience Member It's actually a good movie. It has a suitable length (about 80 minutes), which I like. The storyline is nice and simple. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review don s This is really lame. A former high school acapella singer bombs in the school play. He spends his early adulthood dating a high school girl, trying to gain the attention of his former music teacher (who is cozying up to the girlfriend), and losing members of his acapella band, Meridian 8, which is now down to 4 members. There is little story, there is little comedy (okay, none if you ask me), and there is no point to the whole thing. Stiller is terrible. Anna Kendrick, however, still qualifies as cute as a button. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member It starts off on a slow note and though a few moments seem to pick up, the film just isn't enjoyable. The jokes are humorless and it was overall pointless. Had the actors been given proper insight into the characters and then been allowed to continue development from how they see the character, as successful films accomplish, it would have turned out better. However, the directing was still bad and the concept even worse. I had high hopes for the movie, and it completely failed. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member An odd unfunny comedy that isn't unentertaining while at the same time not really entertaining either. The Marc Pease Experience is just one of those films that will be watched and than quickly forgotten and in a way being so plain isn't necessarily a good thing while not really being a bad thing. Stiller is not anywhere near his comical best which is a shame considering this film could have used a Stiller over the top performance if for nothing else than to make it stand apart. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member The writers and directors should be fired for making such a convoluted film - the ending was terrible! Nathan Rabin AV Club Louiso's misfiring comedy feels less like a comic feast than a thrown-together assemblage of haphazardly nuked leftovers. Rated: D+ Aug 27, 2009 Full Review Rob Nelson Variety Like Schwartzman, Stiller devotes aptly excessive attention to the portrayal of a character too invested in trivial pursuits himself. It's the movie's one decent joke, but, in the absence of laughs, the most the actors can draw from it is a mere grin. Aug 24, 2009 Full Review Rene Rodriguez Miami Herald This is a slight and unessential picture, but its quirky, compassionate tone seems destined to attract a cult following, and members of high-school drama clubs everywhere will be riveted. Rated: 2.5/4 Aug 21, 2009 Full Review William Goss Cinematical No character is worth caring about, worth pitying, worth paying attention to; no dilemma they face is too petty. Dec 17, 2009 Full Review Austin Kennedy Sin Magazine No wonder Paramount Vantage decided to bury this. Rated: 1/4 Aug 29, 2009 Full Review Chris Hewitt St. Paul Pioneer Press If anyone were going to like The Marc Pease Experience, it would be me, and I didn't.
