I had never heard of Nick Buoniconti before watching this but now I will never forget him.
CTE is a nasty disease and the sad truth is most of our favorite fighters and NFL players will have it.
This documentary crushed me when he talked about his son.
“I thought…that I was walking away in one piece. Little did I know, later on, it would come back to haunt me.”
Fantastic documentary on a football player I hadn't heard of. An absolutely incredible story, and an incredible life. Easily the most moving film I've seen all year.
Nick Buoniconti went from player, to agent, to businessman, to activist and philanthropist. He did everything many of us could hope to do in multiple lifetimes and did them in one.
Some of the moments that hit the hardest included Nick's son, Marc, being paralyzed during a game, and how that affected the family, and also how Nick's CTE brought on dementia and other issues for the Hall of Famer. Buoniconti's determination and dedication to his work is amazing, even in those times of desperation.
It's a heartbreaking story, but also an incredibly inspiring one. More people need to see this film.
Truly remarkable man. I have such respect for Nick Buoniconti for all the hard work he has done for raising millions of dollars for paralysis research. check this documentary out it’s worth watching.👍🇨🇦🎬🍿🥤
Rating: 8.9/10
I knew almost nothing about Nick Buoniconti. All I knew is that he was a very successful football player that was a part of one of the greatest football teams ever. This documentary taught me so much about not only his football story, but his life story and the amount he accomplished in his life. It was a beautiful story from beginning to end. My only knock on this documentary is that it rushes through his football story. That is a major part of his life and they barely tell you anything about it. RIP to an NFL legend.
Pros:
- Interviews
- Pacing
- Clips
- Direction
Cons:
- Rushes through Nick’s time in the NFL
Nick was a good friend of my grandfather’s and growing up I always heard random stories of the times they used to spend together. Today my parents and I decided to watch the film and it was a beautiful experience to see such a well written piece describe a true renaissance man. Although I was too young to really get to know him at the occasional dinner party or at my grandfather’s funeral, it was an honor to have crossed paths with him at all. Rest easy Mr. Buoniconti, you truly made a huge difference in this world.
I’ve never followed sports closely but I do love a good sports documentary. This one was particularly touching.
Starts out a pretty typical story about and underdog guy who is good sports and never quits fighting until he achieves the ultimate goal which in this case is being an integral part of the only undefeated season to be played by any NFL team, 72 Dolphins. Pretty cool but it’s after he retires from the game that his life begins to mean something more than an impressive statistic. He got a law degree and argued cases during the off season. Became an agent for other pro athletes and is regarded by most as the toughest negotiator in the game. Raised 3…
