Poster for The Lost Children of Berlin In the dark days of Nazi Germany, Jewish schools were shut down one by one as the students and their families were herded into ghettos or sent to concentration camps. But amid the countless stories of tragedy and death are the miraculous stories of those who survived. This documentary film chronicles the lives of former students who attended Grosse Hamburgerstrasse School in Berlin during the Holocaust. The school was closed in 1942 by the Gestapo. Interviewed during a 1996 reunion following the reopening of the school after 54 years, the survivors recount their experiences against the backdrop of present-day Berlin.
