This is basically just more or less a "joke post" done to test out this newer layout for posting (it's awful) and open up old wounds regarding this extremely weird/uncomfortable relationship.
Always remember that Anubis' roughly over 5000 years old, has a wife and daughter, but decided to date a thirteen-year-old girl for whatever reason (can't recall his reasons, but certainty do Sadie's). But seeing this image of buff Anubis in a contrast to pretty-boy Anubis was a hilarious one, thus this post was created out my bored brain.
All of the God/human relationships in the Riordan verse are weird if you think about it that way TBF
But yeah Sadie/Anubis(/Walt) was one of the weirder ones still
It's not Anubis being millennium-old and having a whole family that's the real issue as that's standard for God/Human relationships, but the main problem is that Sadie's just 13-year-old and appears Anubis is being creepy to her as a result.
Sadie (probably) isn't into furrys.
Then she should have picked other boyfriend(s) if she's not, I mean has Sadie seen real images of Anubis?
She made it clear the jackal head was not her thing.
So it's only the head that the problem 🤔
I don’t remember her liking his appearance at all when he had the jackal head, I’m currently rereading and I wanna say she was just flat out not interested in the jackal head look, body and all.
Yeah she definitely wasn't interested. That was a joke, I doubt Rick would make it so she hated the head spefically and nothing else.
Imagine your girlfriend straight up tells you that she doesn’t like your true form, definitely not a keeper
Anubis: "I believe we're going to need to rethink our relationship, especially judging me based on my real appearance, I guess it's time to go back to the wife"
I want to know what she’d think of the Record of Ragnarok Anubis. That guy seems insane. Like SpongeBob lip flicking meme insane.
The ROR Anubis is horrifying combination of PJO and FGO Anubis being a buff pretty boy, but Sadie would for some reason think he's hot. At least, FGO Anubis remains a better person than ROR Anubis, even if he views death as far better than living.
I mean tbf we have seen so little of Anubis that it hard to say. He seems a little bit too into Killing humanity but he might just be hyped to fight like Susanoo was or could potentially change like Shiva did.
He's super horny on death and shit, but whatever his personality is a mystery.
So, yeah, I looked into this because of the same reasons.
The goddess usually attributed to being Anubis’ wife is his mother in Riordian Verse. Plus Anubis is sometimes described as an elderly man.
My personal headcannon is that this is a new reincarnation cycle and he has been 15 for a good while (think any teenage vampire romance). Not any less creepy, he still has memories of his past lives.
You're making a bit of a mistake as Anput (his female personification) is traditionally viewed as his consort, just as much as his mother, Nephthys (who is his Mother in Egyptian Mythology). Conversely, Egyptian Mythology doesn't believe in reincarnation in the traditional sense, with just the Sun God Ra being reborn each day and night. The reasoning for why Anubis has his own mother as his consort is that Ancient Eygpt practiced a lot of inbreeding among the ruling family to keep their bloodline "pure", thus it was represented in their Gods.
Oh okay, thanks.
By reincarnation- I meant the whole uncle brother thing. Don’t know how to describe it better
"Uncle-Brother Thing"? I don't quite understand your meaning?
In the books, Horus uses both brother and uncle when referring to Set, implying that in different “cycles” they have very different familial relationships. Or at least that is how I interpreted it when reading the books.
Bro someone please go off about their weird ass relationship 😭 I love reading rant and listening to them pleaseeee
I'm not the type for ranting, but it's crazy in how KC tries to justify the relationship in saying Anubis was a teenaged god despite being one of the oldest Egyptian Gods. Let's not get into how you'd think Anubis would far more upset with the ransacking and pillaging of the tombs that fall under his domain, but that's another matter. But everyone's aware of our real issues with the relationship, it's a 5000-year-old Anubis being in love with a 13-year-old Sadie, it's almost disturbing.
...Leo and calypso....ye I'm just gonna leave it at that
Or how Calypso had imprisoned and repeatedly raped Odysseus night after night for ten years, much less that she's older than the Olympians.
A 5000 god getting with literally anyone is weird. But that’s pretty much the entirety of Greek and Roman mythology. The simple fact is, the age doesn’t seem to matter as much when it comes to gods in mythology
That'd much is obvious, but here's the difference with each of those relationship in the Mythologies and Riordanverse, they were adults at the time (Sally x Poseidon, etc), but Sadie's an actual child and makes Anubis looking like a Pedo-Jackal.
I’m going to agree with this specifically because of the fact that the term “pedo-jackal” makes me laugh lol
An immortal being dating a mortal isn't what makes it weird. It's the immortal being dating a mortal minor that makes it weird. At least wait until her 18 birthday like all the other creeps, Anubis.
You get it
Oh god. I dont even want to know
It's just buff Anubis that (probably) isn't interested in a minor, he's a jackal with standard, but perhaps Sadie is a different matter.
She would smash him
“Smash, next question”
Sadie Kane’s live reaction
He looks far more capable of that.
I wouldn't be surprised if Sadie found him intimidating and scary if she first encountered a version like this.
See these examples are what I was hoping for with Anubis when I first started reading the Kane Chronicles instead of what we got. I wanted a cool adult Anubis that looked like a jackal, not some super weird romance between a god and a teenage girl.
I didn't like teen boy Anubis, if that wasn't obvious.
Based on your comment, your certainty doesn't like that depiction of Anubis in the Kane Chronicles. But this Anubis' personality is like that of Hades, constantly giving off massive amounts of intimidation to the living, he's cold and demeaning with even the greatest of pharaohs mean nothing to him or his scales of justice. Nonetheless, I was recently looking through KC Anubis and revealed that even his personality is solely centered around his relationship with Sadie rather than anything more befitting the God of Mummification.
