A satisfying and exciting end to a great film series, it does drag a little bit but I can't complain I wasn't satisfied by the end. the acting is still strong and the characters were well cast. Fantastic cinematography as well. 04-08-2018

See more reviews like this at chrisbreviews.blogspot.com Mockingjay Part 1 lacked the key element that young adult audiences loved about The Hunger Games; the actual hunger games. Director Francis Lawrence tries to bring some of that magic back in Part 2 but forgets who his audience is; young adults. The plot is intertwined with moral complexities of war and its various trials and tribulations. Different from the rest of the films, this one addresses both the battle and the politics of war, and ideas that are just too complicated for young adult minds and therefore may prove boring or difficult to understand. Don't be mistaken, the plot is fantastic and executed in an excellent manner, but aside from sporadic action sequences, this movie very much deals with complex ideas through dialogue and body language. Nevertheless, the action element is integral to the Hunger Games current success, and is present in spectacular condensed bursts which are overwhelming yet engaging. The plot is riddled with unexpected twists and deaths which contribute to its very dark ambience. However, the most controversial part of this film is its ending. Without giving away too much, instead of a final battle taking the climax before a brief resolution, the resolution of the story dominates the tale's conclusion. Some of it may be very upsetting to viewers and may not even necessarily make sense, but one thing is certain; it drags on for a very long time. This is Lawrence trying to bring justice to the saga. Lawrence has once again assembled an all star cast of the likes of Oscar winners Jennifer Lawrence, Julianne Moore, and the late Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Oscar nominee Woody Harrelson, and award winners Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Elizabeth Banks, Donald Sutherland, Stanley Tucci, and Gwendoline Christie among others. Jennifer Lawrence is the stand-out of the cast, a woman who has carried the Hunger Games as both its main protagonist and best actress. In spite of the dark nature of the film, small but welcomed comic relief is offered from Elizabeth Banks and Woody Harrelson. As this was Seymour Hoffman's last movie, he was not able to complete filming but luckily minimal computer-generated images of him were used. Lawrence should be commended on his integration of various genres such as action, adventure, drama, dystopia, mystery, romance, and even some thriller elements. All of which were beautifully blended and utilised in the right moments. Although The Hunger Games saga- which will be viewed as a piece of many's childhood has come to its conclusion- whispers of theme parks, prequels, and spin-offs are in the works. Lawrence isn't going to let this once-in-a-generation work of art go easily. Overall, Mockingjay Part 2 was a film with varying degrees of success. The plot is brilliant and complex yet the action sequences were limited and sporadic. The biggest thing this film lacked was consistency. There were many dull moments of dialogue, and while it was necessary to the telling of the story, it could have been more evenly distributed. Fans of the books will be happy that the film did its legacy justice but others might have to be whispering in their ears about what's going on...
