New Mexico 10-month-old found, suspect in her disappearance in custody, FBI says
A 10-month-old New Mexico girl who had been missing following the death of her mother and another woman was found alive, the FBI announced Monday morning.
“10 month old Eleia Maria Torres has been found alive and the suspect is in custody,” the FBI Albuquerque field office announced in a brief news release.
The bureau did not provide further details on Eleia Maria Torres’ condition and the suspect was not immediately named.
Friday afternoon, police said they found 23-year-old Samantha Cisneros and 23-year-old Taryn Allen shot and killed near a minivan at Ned Houk Park. Eleia’s 5-year-old sister was also found injured at the park.
Clovis police said that during the investigation, officers found an infant car seat, a stroller, and a small baby bottle left at the scene. Officers began searching the area for 10-month-old Eleia Maria Torres and issued an Amber Alert.
Police and the FBI searched the area Saturday and Sunday.
The fathers of both children have been working with the investigation team, police said at a news conference Sunday.
