Korra N The Endless is cosmic horror at its best. Justin Benson & Aaron Moorhead created a masterpiece here and, although it's not for everyone, it's still a cinematic marvel that proves you can create an epic world without obscene budgets. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/17/24 Full Review Audience Member Makes “Resolution” retroactively more tolerable. Great scifi mystery/horror. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/05/24 Full Review Georgan G A film as mysterious and chilling as it is eye-opening. Time loops, behavior patterns, alien control over humans...take your pick. Multi-layer themes that keep you guessing. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/29/24 Full Review elana k It's a bit dull. Some characters are also rather dull and are not able to hold a high concept up high. The start to the film was great: building suspense and an all round oddness. I loved it, the introductory hooks of the story was offset by a sense of restraint. But as the plot started to reveal itself, instead of turning it up a notch, things just started to slowly fall flat... So why am I giving it four stars? For pure originality and novelty. Despite the rather dull delivery at times, the original concept was more than good enough. The clues which seemed to promise the viewer something interesting was enough to keep me going. I think that if I find myself committed to keep going until the end, despite the dullness, it must mean the filmmakers have done their job! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/21/24 Full Review Craig B To watch an Aaron Moorhead / Justin Benson movie, you really do need to be in the right mood. Their movies, with their rich and plentiful dialogue and convoluted storylines, are best watched with no other distractions (turn off your mobile!) as your likely to miss something then think ‘what the hell just happened there?' Their 2017 offering ‘The Endless' is an intriguing SciFi/Horror movie (much more SciFi than Horror, it has to be said). Moorhead and Benson are ever reliable in their key roles and the supporting cast help keep it altogether and ticking along. A particularly eerie premise and many strange happenings should keep you engaged for the duration of this thought-provoking journey. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/18/24 Full Review Alec B I appreciate the ambitious storytelling even if the ending feels like a bit of a cop out . J. R. Jones Chicago Reader Unfortunately the filmmakers introduce a sci-fi element in the second half that deflates much of the interpersonal tension and shifts the focus from the subtleties of mind control to the vagaries of time and space. Mar 5, 2020 Full Review Robert Daniels 812filmreviews The biggest lesson of The Endless is how we can allow our lives to loop around in one crappy cycle until we cop out. Rated: 3.5/4 Dec 31, 2018 Full Review Kambole Campbell One Room With A View Despite an imaginative concept, the narrative feels surprisingly bland, even when the pieces begin to fall into place - and when there's no quick punchline to fall back on, the film suffers. Rated: 2/5 Aug 25, 2018 Full Review Alachia Queen Alachia Queen This independent film is a unique balance between Lovecraftian world building, the intimacies of family dynamics, and the horrors of the personal limitations. Rated: A May 6, 2022 Full Review Emma Wolfe SpookyAstronauts I felt like it was very confusing about the whole history behind the boys... but I do feel like there is some great production value in there. Rated: 6/10 Apr 14, 2021 Full Review David Nusair Reel Film Reviews ...the thin premise is, at 111 minutes, consistently stretched to its breaking point.
