Amazon.com
Part of growing up is discovering something that inspires a true passion within and allowing that passion to guide one's actions and choices. The process of self-discovery isn't easy, and when 15-year-old Patrick McCardle (High School Musical's Zac Efron) realizes that playing baseball is more his father's dream than his own, it's an unlikely friendship with old man Houston Jones (Bill Cobbs), a recluse and horse trainer, that inspires Patrick's newfound passion for the exciting world of horse jumping. Patrick and his father (William R. Moses) clash over Patrick's decision to give up baseball and spend time training for the Derby Cup race with Houston, but eventually Patrick and his father come to a mutual understanding and gain a whole new sense of respect for one another as they begin to really talk about and listen to each other's dreams and desires. The road to becoming a derby rider is difficult, but as Houston and Patrick work together, the two share dreams and disappointments and become incredibly close. In the end, Houston, a most unlikely role model, winds up having a profoundly positive impact on Patrick's life both on and off the racetrack. (Ages 5 and older) --Tami Horiuchi

"...very compelling, heartwarming and emotional." --Dr. Ted Baehr, Movieguide.com
"...a fun, adventurous, exciting, moving story featuring Zac Efron." --The Chicago Parent
...in this film he (Zac Efron) shows a more dramatic side and his fans will no doubt enjoy seeing the heartthrob in this non-musical role." --Movie Web

And "mucking" is not that bad! If a person loves horses, mucking is an ease job, builds some muscle! just need to clean the boots and leave them in the barn..
A new world awaits for all of us. My new world may be in a space bubble far away where others and I try to remember what it means to be human. Why are we still alive? Has Linda McCardle had plastic surgery? Does Jim McCardle try to look like a dufus or is his appearance an inextricable part of his self? Is Randy's hairstyle absolutely stupid or are all perceptions relative? Is life in outer space worth living?
When you are done reading this review, you will probably watch this movie with your friends and family, eat popcorn and drink carbonated beverages. As you press play on the remote control, take a moment to think about exploding stars.
Enjoyed it immensely.

No. He couldn't.
Actually, despite being shot earlier than first High School Musical movie was shown in theatres, you can see the same Troy/Patric in the movie, and, by and large, close story. I had expected more interesting job from Zac but he failed.
Although those facts, the movie itself is not bad. Not at all. First of all, it's pretty kind and dramatic story where you could see not only relations between father and his son (the well-know problem "Fathers and Sons", described in Russian classic literature and not only) but also love story of Patric and Jill, Patric's goal achievment and tragedy of old lonly man, living in small provincial town.
Unlike Zac Efron, his movie partner Bill Cobbs has brilliantly played his role. Solitude he showed was unbelievable and touching. Moreover, the ending of the movie prevents excessive iridescence this story.
Do I recommend this movie?
More yes than no.
Igor. Russian Federation.
It coveres many a topic that is still around in our society and doesnt look like going anytime soon, namely those that have always had money thinking they can do wahtever they please and get away with it.
Its also a sad tail about father and son not having a good relationship, but through hard work finally getting there in the end.
If you love horses and a bit of a sad tale this is the film for you.
It also show the early acting skill of a young Zac Efon. Not a all Disney just pure acting.
Bought as a birthday present for my daughter, and she is very happy. Happy teen = happy mum
