Katie D A little slow to start but it's funny, quirky and great storytelling. I'm glad there was more highlights in the movie beyond what is in the trailer. Great performances, especially Ray Romano and Holly Hunter! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/15/21 Full Review Anthony P Most overrated RomCom I have ever seen. It is simply ok. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/12/24 Full Review Jeff M Overlong and slightly overrated but still enjoyable and fresh romantic comedy drama. Hunter and Romano definite highlights. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/11/24 Full Review Alec B It may be a little too long and at times predictable but Nanjiani and Gordon's script is helped by a unique perspective and a really great cast. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/03/24 Full Review matthias s The Big Sick is an incredibly heartwarming and charming film that tells a unique and refreshing story. The performances by Kumail Nanjiani and Zoe Kazan are absolutely fantastic, and their chemistry is undeniable. The film tackles serious topics like cultural differences and illness with grace and humor, and manages to strike a perfect balance between comedy and drama. The supporting cast, including Holly Hunter and Ray Romano, are also excellent and add depth to the story. The Big Sick is a must-watch film that will leave you feeling uplifted and inspired. The only reason I'm not giving it a full 5 stars is because there were a few moments where the pacing felt a little slow. This is a minor critique and doesn't detract from the overall excellence of the film. If you're looking for a movie that's both funny and heartfelt, then The Big Sick is definitely worth checking out. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/09/23 Full Review Cowni F I think, this might be the kind of role Ray Romano was born to play. Holly Hunter can do no wrong. Everything else is great as well. Lovely movie! Elissa Suh StageBuddy.com ...a universality that should prove broad enough for even the most close-minded of viewers... Mar 12, 2020 Full Review Donald Clarke Irish Times What sets the film apart is an oddness that could only have sprung from real life. That and sincerity, compassion, humanity. Rated: 4/5 Aug 7, 2017 Full Review Jake Wilson The Age (Australia) After a slow start, the film gradually accumulates funny and surprising details, many of them surely drawn directly from life. Rated: 3/5 Aug 4, 2017 Full Review Don Shanahan Every Movie Has a Lesson The Big Sick can confidently boast a self-evident punchline that lasts for over two hours and never runs out of the funny or the surprising. Rated: 5/5 Feb 16, 2024 Full Review Patricia Karounos Refinery29 Every laugh is full and genuine, and so are the (good) tears you inevitably will cry. Oct 23, 2023 Full Review Fletcher Powell KMUW - Wichita Public Radio The characters are funny, but not too funny, the stakes seem real, and you can tell that everyone really cares about each other.
