They also face the risk of discovery by their friend and neighbor FBI agent Stan Beeman, who is tasked with uncovering Soviet illegals hiding in plain sight. Martin F The Americans season 2 turns the series thrilling premise to perfection. With a stronger focus on human consequence. It shows how the values, lies and missions affect not only the victims but also the agents, giving some heartbreaking moments and difficult decisions. This season gets stronger with an overarching mystery that concludes in the strongest way at the end of the episodes while bringing some unexpected dilemmas into the next season. Even the spy scenes are getting better with more secret clues, wigs, kills and manipulation. Interesting to see the point of view Russians are raised with vs. Americans. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review andy h It has to build on what it's started to be a stepping stone, but it's still thrilling and intelligent to watch and see how the situations expand. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Shyam S Again watchable if there is nothing better to do and one is bored. KGB couple are successful in any damn thing they want, FBI and even CIA way behind ... Matthew Gilbert Boston Globe Rather than only offering titillating suspense about spies, undercover ruses, and (it must be said) bad wigs, The Americans provides insight into how cultural differences, misunderstood information, and paranoia can lead to overreactions and escalations. Mar 17, 2014 Full Review Maureen Ryan Huffington Post Holy Mother Russia, you need to be watching The Americans. Very few shows are able to combine pleasurable episodic storytelling so deftly with solid character building and delicious suspense. Mar 4, 2014 Full Review Tim Goodman Hollywood Reporter Credit Weisberg and Fields for nailing down season two of The Americans right from the start, by picking up where the story left off and making sure that this spy-vs.-spy thing has real-life costs. Mar 3, 2014 Full Review Jessica Johnson Time Out Chicago It's refreshing to see Philip and Elizabeth finally connecting and working together better than they had before with the drama in their lives coming from more dangerous, external sources. Jul 2, 2018 Full Review Greg David The Loop Can we just take a second... to salute the fine hair, makeup and wardrobe folks on the show. And those who create Philip's looks specifically? Mar 6, 2014 Full Review Kevin Yeoman Screen Rant We know how the Cold War turned out, but as viewers, we're far less certain as to the fates of these characters who may lack our knowledge, but understand full well the potential cost of the games without frontiers they're playing at.
