I love Morgana King & how priviledged we are to have someone who has such a wonderful interpretation of the standards as she displays on this CD. Her silky smooth voice gets me everytime along with her vocal range. In saying that though, each song you listen to is a treasure and you can feel she is singing just for and too you the listener.

I love Morgana's style of singing....it's relaxing, intriguing, pensive....I could go on and on. She is very unique, there is no other. You either love it or hate it. I love it!

Intriguing voice...

There is only one Morgana King, and her unique blend of jazz and classical tends to divide listeners into two camps: Those who love her and those who hate her.
I have adored this singer since I was a teenager back in the 60s, but I haven't found too many others who share my opinion.
Tender Moments is a Best of, featuring songs from Morgana's 1977 album, Stretching Out, through to her 1987 album, Another Time, Another Space.
The opening song, Through The Eyes Of Love, captured my attention immediately, and her rendition of the jazz classic, Body And Soul, is undoubtedly the best I've ever heard.
Even her version of My Funny Valentine made me forget for a moment that I actually hate that song, and if any man had tried to serenade me with those dreadful lyrics I would most likely have shoved his guitar down his throat.
The CD closes with an excellent rendition of Billy Joel's Just The way You Are.
If you are a fan of Ms King this is definately a must have.

NOT WHAT I EXPECTED

I love most things she does (did), but when, oh when, will there be a reissue of A Taste of Honey? I have an old audio tape of this album copied by a friend years ago and I wear it out, especially the track of Lazy Afternoon. Bliss.

For fans of Morgana King the "Taste of Honey" is her best !

Intimate and tender moments with Morgana
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on October 17, 2009
Many songs on this record sound like exquisitely crafted poems or art songs. They leave you wanting more. I think the arrangements have a less is more approach. Morgana's voice has always been compared to a violin. She usually sings with a lush strings orchestra arranged by Ray Ellis (the arranger for Morgana's "Everything must change" album), Don Costa (in "Gemini Changes") and Torrie Zito.
But when the arrangments become minimal, it gives her voice more focal point. Some tracks (such as "Time Was" originally from her album called "Portrait") on this album are better suited to her voice than others. She has got the most amazing and ethereal range. She can dazzle you with her impressive vocal acrobatics and at the same time, her phrasing and interpretation of the lyrics always come from the heart.
My favourite track on this album is "Time was" - what a beautiful and lyrical rendition of this love song. I wish someone from Verve label will release her other album called "I know how it feels to be lonely". It has my favourite version of Jimmy Webb's song called "Didn't We?"
