Georgian Deputy Health Minister Tamar Gabunia has stated that she is ‘alarmed and concerned’ by the recent drop of vaccination rate in the country.

7,720 individuals have received the coronavirus vaccine around the country in the past 24 hours which is the lowest figure since the end of July.

It was the weekend and people had more time to receive the vaccine. However, this did not happen,” Gabunia said.

More than 24 per cent of the country’s adult population have been fully vaccinated since March 2021, while the government has plans to vaccinate at least 60 per cent of Georgia’s  adult population by the end of the year.

Georgian health officials believe that without vaccination the pandemic will not end.

Georgia has reported 662 new cases of coronavirus, 3,534 recoveries and 34 deaths in the past 24 hours.

23,795 remain infected with Covid-19 in Georgia.

Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Sinovac and Sinopharm coronavirus vaccines are available in the country.
