      What to know

      Critics Consensus

It has a charming sweetness about it, but Take Me Home Tonight is neither funny nor original enough to live up to the comedies it evokes. Read critic reviews

Another teen angst movie, except the characters are a little older, and the plot is a stretch. The whole point of teen angst movies is to mature and discover yourself, but this movie is not as interesting or funny as others in this genre

I was shocked with this film. From the trailer, I thought the film was gonna be stupid and boring. However, after watching the film, I was pleasantly surprised by it. I found it funny and entertaining. It reminded me of movies like License to Drive, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, and Grosse Point Blank. I thought this was a better version of an homage to the 1980s than the movie, Hot Tub Time Machine. From the looks to the music, I loved hearing and seeing the 80s here. Topher Grace, Anna Faris, and Dan Fogler all shine here. Teresa Palmer is very good too. Michael Biehn steals all the scenes that he is in. I definitely recommend this movie.

A wonderfully campy '80s period comedy, Take Me Home Tonight is hilariously entertaining. The story follows a video store clerk named Matt Franklin who gets a second chance to win over his old high school crush when he learns that she's going to a local Labor Day party. Featuring Topher Grace, Anna Faris, Dan Fogler, and Teresa Palmer, the film has a strong cast that's able to bring the comedy. The '80s aesthetic is brilliantly done, and completely encapsulates the energy and style of the period without being gaudy or meta. Additionally, the soundtrack is outstanding and gives the film personality. Take Me Home Tonight is a sincere romantic comedy that's a lot of fun.

Ok, the only reason I started watching this was for Anna Faris, but she didn't even have any comedy scenes!! My favorite parts of the film were the ones between Topher Grace (who, for some reason, I feel like is...getting older and weirder?) and the blonde girl, but calling something "favorite" is kinda stretching it, more like, the "only tolerable parts."
