A generally bland, boring, and uninspired flick.
This film suffers from clunky pacing, terrible direction and screenplay, ugly visuals and cinematography, production values feel cheap, poor blood & gore effects, a story that goes nowhere, choppy editing & action that tries way too hard to be 300, and obnoxious music score.
I didn't completely hate this film, but I still very much didn't enjoy this one at all. Not recommended. 👎🏾

These sort of films are a guilty pleasure of mine, never particularly impressive but great if you want to watch some medieval warriors go at it. I found it interesting enough without particularly caring too much. An intriguing protagonist and decent performances from most of the cast really aren’t helped out by a weak script and really predictable plot. Fight scenes are better (the main character is like the 11th Century Terminator), although can be hampered by bad shaky cam every so often. It definitely looked a bit cheap at times, like some extras from Game of Thrones went to film in the forest from The Blair Witch Project, but it never feel glaring enough to bring the film down. It’s a solid enough film if you’re looking for some historical action, if a little slow and uninspired.
I didn't hate it, but it's clear the whole thing was very economic in how much it wanted to tell, which is why most of it is shot in slow motion. I liked the visual aspect of Sword of Vengeance (2015). At least that part gave it an identity, even if most of that was stolen from 300. In the end there was no real reason for this being made, but that can be said about most films.
Thought I was getting a kung fu actioner what I got was a historical period film directed by Jim Wheedon and from Well-Go
Clearly made on a budget, but this doesn't detract away from what it is. And that is a half decent film about brutal killings in the name of vengeance and for one man to save his people in a post Battle of Hastings England.
Don't get me wrong, it is no Braveheart/Centurion in its financial clout but still not bad.

I'm going to give you a couple of lines just to show the kind of script you'll be watching. Keep in mind this is sort of a medieval film...
"Come meet your destiny"
"A man seeking vengeance should dig two graves"
One of the worst scripts I've ever seen... every possible cliche is here, the ominous music every time the bad guy is shown, the slow motion action that supposedly make the scene more dramatic... the sex scene between the main characters...
My advice, watch something else...
One star for costume though ; )

Just terrible. Not even terrible, more like "who cares about it"... looks like even people who made it didn't care.
It looks very cheap. The entire movie takes place in some wood and a cheap village in the middle of the empty field.
The story makes no need for any involvement, the characters are very simple in a bad way... like you don't really care what would happen...
and the worst thing is the photography. It's almost black&white after color correction. Looks awful.
I couldn’t even finish it. I’ve never seen such an ugly looking movie, and it lacked any connection between scenes. I turned it off under an hour in, soon after the sex scene between the two main characters, neither of which have any discernible personality.
Why did I do this to myself? I was going to watch Le Gai Savoir. I love Godard and would probably have loved that movie. Why did I choose to put myself through this instead of something I would have likely enjoyed? Am I just a masochist?
Why is what little dialog their is in this film so mumbled? Nothing is more annoying for me than having to piece together inaudible speech. It breaks you out from the action of the movie.
The story is all over the place and so basic(Vengeance?). For the first 1/3 of the way in you have no idea who these people are, what motivates them and what the fuck is going on. The film comes to its bloody conclusion and nothing is ever answered, so who cares I guess?
Annabelle Wallis(Anna) is nothing special(The Mummy) as an actress and brings a flat performance. She isn't as bad as Stanley Weber(Shadow) who can go back to France now.
I got half way through and skipped ahead too the end. Low budget doesn't have to equal low standards.
No Jim Weedon, no. The plot is non-existing, the acting is terrible, the fighting's no good. Just a complete waste of time. Shot in and around Belgrade, Serbia.
