Svyatoslav Vladimirovich of Vshchizh, Prince of Starodub-Seversky, Prince of Vshchizh, was born 1145 to Vladimir II Davydovich of Chernigov (c1118-1151) and NN Vsevolodovna of Goroden (c1126-c1180) and died 1167 of unspecified causes. He married Rostislava Andreyevna (c1149-c1200) .
Svyatoslav Vladimirovich (c1145-1167) - Prince of Starodub-Seversky (1157-1160), Prince of Vschizh (1157-1167), son of Vladimir Davydovich of Chernigov, the last representative of the branch of the Chernigov Davydoviches.
Biography
In 1156, he made an attempt to increase his possessions, seized several cities on the Desna River, but was defeated by his second cousin Svyatoslav Vsevolodovich. In 1157, with the beginning of the struggle of his uncle Izyaslav Davydovich for the Grand Principality of Kiev, he defended Chernigov against Svyatoslav Olgovich and Svyatoslav Vsevolodovich. The capital of the principality was still given to Svyatoslav Olgovich, but most of the territory of the principality was preserved for Izyaslav Davydovich and Svyatoslav Vladimirovich. In 1159 , when Izyaslav Davydovich lost the throne of Kiev in favor of prince of Smolensk Rostislav Mstislavich, the allies approached Vshchizh, but the city was saved by the army of Andrei I Yuryevich of Bogolyubovo. However, after his death, Svyatoslav had to recognize the seniority of Svyatoslav Olgovich of Chernigov and, according to Voitovich's version, to hand over Starodub-Seversky to Yaroslav Vsevolodovich. Izyaslav in 1161 died in the battle for Kiev.
After the death of Svyatoslav Olgovich of Chernigov in 1164, Svyatoslav Vladimirovich, being the eldest descendant of Svyatoslav Yaroslavich, made no attempt to interfere in the struggle for Chernigov between Svyatoslav Vsevolodovich and Oleg Svyatoslavich, Svyatoslav Olgovich's son. With the death of Svyatoslav Vladimirovich in 1167, the branch of Davydoviches stopped, and Vshchizh went into the possession of the descendants of Vsevolod Olgovich , and Oleg Svyatoslavich remained dissatisfied with the distribution of volosts (the fact that Svyatoslav gave his brother the best principality) and led a march towards Starodub-Seversky.
