Trenaway E The critics are dumb, this movie was great! Could it had been better, yes, because Paramount rushed it through production! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/08/24 Full Review IAN c B Im a big John Candy fan and love the energy he puts into this movie Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/12/24 Full Review Chris M It follows the same template as "National Lampoon's Vacation", the trip from hell, where everything possible and impossible to go wrong happens. Honestly I don't see what this seems to be getting hate? John Candy is great, the plot is basic but works. There's nothing that I can see the overly sensitive crowd would be needlessly offended by. True there are character issues and the villain is like of one-note, that note is snob asshole. But as a whole, it works and it very good. Way better than you might hear. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/14/23 Full Review David P I know this movie is not for everyone, but it is one that can always put a smile on my face and lift my spirits. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/10/23 Full Review CeeShore Just dumb. Depletes brain cells. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 06/20/23 Full Review Christopher M Honestly I think this movie is way better than the ratings it's received. It's not brilliant but definitely funny and worth the time investment. It's one of John Candy's better films. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Paul Attanasio Washington Post "Summer Rental" is the kind of movie that could make you wish you had poison ivy -- at least the scratching would occupy your mind. Jan 4, 2018 Full Review Nell Minow Movie Mom Rated: 2/5 Apr 18, 2003 Full Review Michael Lasky Bay Area Reporter If nose picking, belching, farting, and vomiting make you laugh. Summer Rental will prove to be a refreshing knee slapper. May 22, 2020 Full Review Rick Chatenever Santa Cruz Sentinel Between the script, which is awful, and the direction, which is lackluster, Candy and the others in front of the cameras don't have much of a chance. Mar 26, 2020 Full Review David Nusair Reel Film Reviews ...an entirely forgettable endeavor that'd hardly be worth mentioning were it not for Candy's energetic performance.
