The route runs from the village on Hartberg to Bad Waltersdorf and follows the 2000 year old traces of viticulture in the Roman period. It is a fascinating example of sights and especially culinary specialties of the region, quality wines such as URBANUS ® as “the” East Styrian Römerweinstraße wine about apples, pears and delicious snack and treats. The Klöcher Weinstraße begins in Bad Radkersburg. It leads north to Pölten, the wine route splits into two. The western route takes you to the market town of Klöch, which is known for the world's best Traminerwines, past the wine museum through Klöchberg to Tieschen and Pichla.

The eastern route leads to Gruisla, past Hochwart through Deutsch-Haseldorf and from there to Pichla, where both wine routes reunite. From there past Frutten-Gießelsdorf, Plesch to St. Anna am Aigen, Kapfenstein and Mahrensdorf. Klöcher Wine Route terminates in the town of Fehring.

The Klöcher Wine Route is well signposted. There is a 30 meter high viewing tower, called Vulkanlandwarte, in the municipality of Frutten-Giesel, from where you have a beautiful panoramic view of this wine region.

It continues from Fehring through Unterlamm, Stein, Loipersdorf, Übersbach, Bergen, Maierhofberg, Großwilfersdorf to Herrenberg. From there along the Höhenrücken ridge on the Markt Hartmannsdorf and over the "Saurüssel" in the direction of Feldbach to the north-west of Riegersburg castle to Stang, Hatzendorf, Brunn and back to Fehring.

Schilcherweinstraße

Schilcherweinstraße

The Styrian city Ligist is the starting point of the Schilcherweinstraße. It leads over Hochgrail, home of the ruby-red Schilcher, to Stainz and Deutschlandsberg and ends in Eibiswald. The ruby-red Schilcherland wine comes from this region of Styria. The Schilcherweinstraße is very well signposted - brown coloured signs with a white horse logo (the Schilcher trademark) are quite visible along the “Schilcher Weinstraße”.

Schilcherweinstraße: Ligist

Particularly appealing at the beginning of the wine road just past Ligist is the area around Stainz and Lestein. There the Schilcherweinstraße passes over hills to steep vineyards and offers beautiful views of the surrounding vineyards and Schilcherland landscapes. Looking at the vineyards from the road one immediately notices the rose-colored vines.

Many Buschenschänke (wine taverns) and wineries are to be found in the first half of the Schilcherweinstraße.
