God smiled and danced in the streets on this date in 1919 when Steve Brodie was born in El Dorado, KS.

Brodie got the bug for acting by performing in summer stock He hooked up with MGM in 1944 and his career was lauched.

During a career that spanned 44 years, Steve appeared in 80 feature films plus 88 television series. 89% of his film appearances occurred in the 40s and 50s.

Brodie was a versatile performer who appeared a many genres: dramas (42); westerns (21); crime/film noir (21); romance (18) and adventure (16).

His IMDb ratings are: Mean = 6.3; Median = 6.2 and Mode = 6.5 (7)

Lowest IMDb rating = 1.9 Frankenstein Island (1981) Highest IMDb rating = 8.1 Out of the Past (1947)

Brodie extended his career through TV series in the 50s and 60s. He had reoccurring roles on: Lassie, Gunsmoke, Rawhide and Bonanza. Three of these were westerns.

I always enjoyed Brodie perform; he could be very serious, funny, loving and devious, all in the same movie.

Steve passed away on January 9th, 1992 in West Hills, CA.
