SPLIT - Stadion Poljud (34,448) | Page 5 | SkyscraperCity Forum
Last weekend we had a big athletics event - the first IAAF Continental Cup.
Over 400 top athletes from around the world came to our Poljud stadium.
Also, a new tartan track was layed out, and the VIP stands were upgraded with large leather seats.
I was at the stadium these days, to see the preparations and the competition. I took this panoramic image, for all of you to see the Poljud beauty in it's full shine.
Yeap. Poljud was envisioned in 1974. and constructed in 1979.
It was the first of it's kind, if we are looking at the roof shape.
Btw. our local football club Hajduk doesn't have as much problem as some other clubs in Croatia. Our average attendence is about 8,000-10,000, with some 5-6 anual matches that fill it up completely, if I'm not mistaken. Still pretty poor, but not that bad either...
I like this stadium cept I really think they should get rid of the greenery right under the large score board. Just put some extra seats there or something else.
Very impressive! I like that stadium. Last holiday I was sailing near Split and the stadium look very good from the sea. It still look modern and a few years ago we could only dream to have so modern and beautiful stadiums in Poland. Also Hajduk ultras are very good. Greetings from Legia fan

Omg I have been saying that for years. The problem is, though, that the park area and scoreboard are not owned by Hajduk but rather by the council and will be owned by the council for another 5-10 years (can't really remember). Plans are, though, that when the scoreboard area is officially Hajduk's they will make seats for traveling fans there so that all of Istok and Zapad can be for Hajduk.
