There are very few problems that I find with Saint Xavier High School. I find that student participation in sporting events is generally very high and builds a culture of community. I found that Saint X gave me a sense of brotherhood, belonging, and purpose.
I started my freshman year during Covid, which was not enjoyable in any way. However, sophomore through senior year has been amazing. Every year I find at least one class that I really enjoy and thrive in. For example, sophomore year I started Ceramics 1. In Ceramics 1, we learn how to make all sorts of things in clay by hand building them. I really enjoyed the class and the teacher was awesome. There aren’t any major changes that I can think of for Saint X. I’m not saying the school is perfect, but it is pretty close.
High school grows you into the person you are. I have great memories, good and bad, some learning experiences and some that I’ll take with me the rest of my life. My high school experience has influenced my development as a person inside and outside of the class by making me more independent, choosing friends wisely and teachers motivating me to attend college and accomplish goals I have set for myself.
I have gained my independence slowly throughout Saint Xavier. The importance of being independent is being secure with who you are and what you believe in. It is extremely empowering knowing that you are in control of your own life and your own choices in high school, college and as a adult.
Kindergarten to 8th grade I attended a private school called Holy Family Catholic School. The school was very small along with classes, teachers extremely strict and hallways always quiet, the totally opposite from Dr. Henry A. Wise.
