Your experience in Prague will never be complete if you do not see it from the top. Hillsides, stretched from the west to the north, provide spectacular views of greenish copper cupolas, narrow cobblestone streets, bridges connecting both river banks and green gardens from red-roof tops of centuries-old houses. Prague pulls you into its 1300 year old history. Walking up the hill or stairs to Prague Castle, the historical seat of Czech rulers and the majestic Saint Vitus Cathedral can leave you speechless (and out of breath). Luckily, plenty of terrace cafés overlooking gardens and beautiful parks are available to provide rest and a place to catch your breath again.

An amazing gothic styled church. Simply stunning architecture and craftsmanship.
As you walk into the castle complex after buying the multi ticket to get into it (if you did), its hard to miss as you walk through from the first courtyard into the inner courtyard of the palace. Its an amazing piece of gothic architecture which the Archbishop of Prague presides over. It has amazing stained glass windows, houses the tombs of Holy Roman emperors and Bohemian Kings. You can climb one of its towers and get magnificent views over Prague. The gothic buttresses on the outside of the church are simply stunning. There is some lovely mosaic details on the side of the church as well. A must see when in the castle complex.

A Must-Visit for History and Architecture Enthusiasts
St. Vitus Cathedral is an absolute masterpiece of Gothic architecture and an essential stop for anyone visiting Prague. The intricate details and stunning stained glass windows are breathtaking, and the interior is filled with fascinating historical artifacts and artwork. I was particularly impressed by the breathtaking views from the top of the tower, which offer a panoramic view of the city. Make sure to take a guided tour to fully appreciate the significance of this incredible cathedral. Even if you're not particularly religious, the grandeur and beauty of this cathedral is worth a visit. I can't recommend it enough!

    Amazing Cathedral
If you make your way towards the Prague Castle, be sure and spend some time to visit this wonderful cathedral. It is simply an architectural wonder inside and out. It can be very busy at peak times so plan accordingly. A great photo op!

    Wonderful cathedral.
Stopped here from the hop on, hop off bus tour and strolled into the grounds which are grand and thought we were entering the castle grounds. Followed everyone else and ended up inside the cathedral. It’s a magnificent building and a work of art. Well worth a visit and didn’t even find the castle!

Stairs - tell people they are nearly there when barely up.
Stairs and stairs and stairs and stairs. Only went up the tower but it’s definitely worth it. Walk on the inside of the spiral when going up and outside when going down. Also make sure to tell people they are almost up when they are barely up for more fun.

    Beautiful experience
This was my first time visiting a cathedral and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The building and surrounding areas were beautiful and there were several attractions nearby. The lines weren’t terrible on a Monday afternoon either.

    Amazing architecture
My family of 3 visited Prague for a few days and visiting the cathedral was on top of our list. The view alone is breathtaking. We’re history buffs so we loved every second of our tour. I would highly recommend a visit if your planning a trip to Prague!

    Must See Castle
It was very nice, it’s free ! Absolutely beautiful. The history is rich and it only really takes about and hour to see, maybe 2. Bring crowns and euros as the bathroom costs money. It can’t all be free ! I would go again for sure. The pic is a view of the castle from our bedroom balcony.

    Top notch
It has pretty much everything you would want to see in a cathedral – soaring ceilings, plentiful and beautiful stained glass windows, lovely and distinctive chapels, wonderful statues, a couple of unique features that add a little extra character and more. The overall effect is almost overwhelming. And it is overwhelming. We took three complete circuits of the cathedral and I guarantee you we both did not catch all there was to see and we did not spend enough time seeing what we did see. There is only so much time we had available, despite allocating the entire day to the Castle complex. It’s one of the best cathedrals we have and we have seen many, many of them. It earns its fame.

    Unforgettable Experience
The St. Vitus Cathedral really leaves an astonishing feeling when you enter the church. As the largest and most important church in Prague it's no doubt that the experience we had there could never be forgotten anytime soon. My fiancé already told me we should visit Prague again next year!

The interior is splendid. Rose windows are luminous. The pulpit is well decorated and painted. Paintings are fabulous.

The cold, snowy weather won’t stop me from visiting Prague. This is my 5th time to visit the city and 1st time to visit the Cathedral. My brother and sister in law told me to keep walking past the cathedral and not to look back yet. They asked me to stop and turn around. Wow! Spectacular sight.
I was amazed how huge and impressive this cathedral was. My sister in law and I climbed the south tower. I think it was 288 spiral steps. The view from the top was jaw dropping. Such a beautiful city. Loved every moment I was there.

The Saint Vitus Cathedral located in the Prague Castle grounds is a Catholic cathedral in Prague, and the seat of the Archbishop of Prague. Until 1997,it was dedicated only to Saint Vitus.

It is of Gothic architecture, and is the largest church in the country.

The cathedral contains the tombs of many Bohemian kings and Holy Roman Emperors.

Do pay the admission fee to go to the top of the tower to see some awesome panaromic views.

If you are not fit and not able to do half marathon, do not to visit. Cathedrals like this you can find everywhere that has tourists with mobility difficulty accommodate, unlike this place.

Even if you have seen many cathedrals, you don't want to miss this important landmark in Prague. A large cathedral with a beautiful interior and lots of information inside. It can get crowded so definitely try to go early in the day. Your ticket also grants entry into the Prague Castle and other locations, but the cathedral is certainly the highlight of them all.

This is an amazing Cathedral but what was outstanding for me was the stained glass windows. I've visited many Cathedrals, mostly in UK but also abroad but I have never seen stained glass anywhere which is as wonderful as this, nor so much of it.

I don't know whether we were just unlucky on the day but it was freezing cold inside the Cathedral - it was a cold day but we were dressed for it and hadn't been cold outside! Maybe the heating had failed but there was nothing to say so? Maybe it's always freezing inside?

But the stained glass made up for being cold!

Also climbed the tower, great views, well worth it.

We could see the cathedral from various locations around Prague and decided to take a tram there. Easy to get there via the tram network we hadn't realised that it was also Prague Castle
Yes you do have to pay to get in but the basic ticket included 3 other entrances to other parts including St George's Basilica & the castle.
It was a bit chaotic getting tickets there as large queues & there are lots you can add to it including audio equipment, guided tours, access to the tower, licence to take photos so it can work out quite expensive.
We chose the basic entry fee which can be used over 2 days but only 1 entrance to each location.
You can see the cathedral from the entrance to the grounds but it's only when you get through the archway that the size hits you.
The cathedral is stunning, yes it was quite busy but everyone seemed very respectful and moved around quietly.
Beautiful stained glass windows throughout lots of very old private burial. areas.
We really enjoy the peace and tranquility of a church or cathedral even though we are not religious we still live the history and architecture.
You are able to walk around the interior and exterior of the cathedral which gives you the perspective of the size & grandeur.
Definitely worth a visit
